Default TORQUE TUBE BEARING and DAMPER LOCATION / MEASUREMENTS NEEDED ?

Rebuilding my torque tube (86 5 speed early, G28-11 transmission) using replacement bearings and garage 9 bushings. Looking for locations (measurements) inside the tube from front or back to install the three bearings and damper. Please help as I have searched 50 threads w/o success. I will post photos of damper and its current bushing state after reviewing this thread https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...iscussion.html. Reason, transmission end of driveshaft was worn.

Here's the diagram that comes with a set of Constantine's superbearings, hopefully this is not a copyrighted or proprietary image (Constantine, holler if it is and I'll take it down)

Hi Rob,

No worries, it isn't classed as a "SECRET//NOFORN" document, but don't know how helpful it is for the OP since he seems to be using the OE bearing units and vibration dampener. Our Diagram is for use with the Super Bearings only.

Pete,

The best way to get the bearing placement measurements is to look for the ghost rings on your drive shaft of where the bearings used to be as it supported the drive shaft and transfer those measurements to the tube body. The vibration dampener should be placed in between the second and third bearing unit toward the transmission end.

Cheers,
Constantine

Appreciate the responses. Below is a template I created using the locations of the bearings as found on the shaft for my 86 early with a 5- speed. I've also attached photos of the carriers and vibration damper, each of which sits very solidly in the tube I plan to reuse. Any reason to replace the rubber from what you see in these photos. I've also attached a photo of the damaged shaft that I picked up a replacement for form 928 International - Thank you Mark Anderson
