Default Koni Question

Does anyone know when Koni adjustable shocks were first made available for 928? My ‘85 S A/T has them, but they look quite worn with the pass side red paint flaked off. To my knowledge this was not a stock option... am I completely wrong? I am just wondering if they are worth rebuilding or if I should just purchase new ones.

Konis were not stock on 928s. Why are thinking to rebuilt/replace? Are they not dampening any longer?

I know that they can be rebuilt, but I have never priced it vs. replacement.
Roger would know, but he is gone to South Dakota through the weekend.

My experience through the years is that Koni has awesome customer service. Their products are good, maybe not great, but for the price they are a great value. The contact I have on file is Gordon Benson, Gordon.Benson2@itt.com. He is super knowledgeable and super helpful. He will tell you straight what your best course of action is. Konis do require rebuilds (or replacement) more often than OEM shocks, but make up for it in performance and options. When they do rebuild them there are often other things they can do at the same time - provide you with shock dyno plots of your shocks (if you're into that), adjust valving, adjust lengths if your vehicle has been lowered, etc. I have not had much experience with Reds, I have used different flavors of Yellows in the past, but I would suggest asking them what the best course of action would be. (This contact info is for Koni NA, so if you are elsewhere in the world you may have to go through different channels.)

Often at major events they will have a presence on site and can rebuild your shocks while you wait.
