Default Interior color question

My 81' Has a brown and tan interior. The dash pod is black. Is this the norm or should the pod match the brown of the dash?

I think all the pods were black in the early models. The 82 Weissach had a matching tan pod in 82 I believe.

G,

I have the same color scheme in mine. My pod is black. I'd actually like to figure out the exact color of the tan, as there are a few. I know the brown is dark brown.

Also, my '80 has a full, dark brown leather interior, except for the pod, wheel, and shifter - which are black. There was a switch in latter years: the '88 's 'carmel' interior is complete , including pod, wheel, and shifter.

I have the same interior.

I plan to replace the outlined area with a black, two speaker setup from a newer 928.

Any opinions on how this will look?

Hacker,

I think that would be sharp! What is the official Porsche color on the tan. Mine looks exactly as yours.

I don't think the mix of black, brown and tan on the door would look great. You might find yourself changing more items to black, or change some black items ot tan or brown.

I think that Rez and Jim have cork colored interiors, but don't know, if Porsche made a matching vinyl pot for this color. I don't have the interior color charts for 1980 to 1982 (the only ones missing in my collection), so I can't verify.

Remember that Porsche would do any interior color you wanted in leather - you could even order colors from previous model years.

Interestingly, I once test drove a beautiful '83 928S with cork all leather interior, but my 1983 color chart no longer shows this color. I have to assume this was a special option car then. Don't know. I did not buy it because the dash needed complete restauration - and I was afraid of that task. I regretted it a few times, then bought an '88 S4.
