Like many with their original parking brake cables, the boots on the crossmember mounts are shot. The cable works fine but the boots aren’t replaceable. I was able to hack together a solution for one side using part of a shift boot housing for an auto trans.
Here is the full boot. I cut about 1.5” and used it on the left side cable. The left side can be removed by removing the safety clip and Clovis pin. Using some synthetic grease, I was able to slide the blood over the head of the cable. All back together.
now if anyone has suggestions on how to re-boot the right side. I’m all ears!
You could cut the boot the full length, put it on and then bond the rubber back together with super glue. You would be surprised on how strong the bond is.

I'm planning to do just that for a rear shifter coupler boot shortly.

Take a look in your local mountain-bike and motorcycle maintenance bins for the accordian gaiters used on brake and shift cables. The shift cable pieces are a good start, especially considering the diameter of the ends is pretty close. Plenty of scooters have these protectors on control cables and are bigger than the bicycle parts. For the part you are looking for, I scratch my head thinking about how to fit a replacement in that section in the middle. Cut and glue may be the only option.
