Happy Father’s Day
To all the dads out there- Happy Father’s Day. I lost my dad on April 13th- but I’d rather talk about the first pic below: I bought this beautiful car on BaT in October 2018. I called my dad on a Sunday night and told him about the auction and asked if he’d fly down to Little Rock Arkansas in 4 days and drive it back with me (15 hours). At first he didn’t believe me, but then he said, “ yeah f*#k it, I’ll do it!” And so we were off. I snapped this pic at a rest stop on the drive home. The second pic is my 10 yr old Dominic and me at Classic9 last fall, and the third pic was the last cars and coffee I had with Dad...I made him drive the 997. Have a great day gentlemen!

Happy Father's Day! Some of my fondest memories as a child were as a result of riding around in my father's weissach. One particularly difficult memory was when we had the car for about a month, my dad had a bunch of cassettes in the center console, a few Cars tapes among others. There was one song that I really liked, not sure which, after each time it played, I'd rewind it and listen again. At some point the cassette went wacky, ejected with the tape itself unwound inside the head unit. Needless to say, that afternoon didn't end to well for me.
Fast forward 38 years (lol), I ordered all the cassettes my dad had in his car, as soon as they came in, I grabbed one of my daughters and went for a ride. Like a giddy child I grabbed one of the cassettes and popped it in to the near mint blaupunkt bamberg in an effort to share a childhood memory with my daughter on the eve of Father's Day.
Nothing happens, I hit rewind and BAM! It was almost like my dad was sitting right next to me...

Some great stories popping up.
When I was 14, my dad high centered a crusty 67 VW bug onto a large snow pile bordering the ice skating rink I kept shoveled off on the lake in front of our home - early in the winter.
He told me "You can do whatever you want with that car, and I want you to spin it out, get used to sliding. But, if you take it off the lake, you don't get your drivers license until you are 21".
I'm not sure how many times I lost control of that thing and spun around, Then I learned to spin it just for fun! I burned quite a few tanks of petrol in it and learned car control to a pretty high level. By spring, I was doing big lurid sideways drifts while grinning ear-to-ear!
I don't know how many times I had my tail loose in a 911 since then, but big power slides in a rear engined car became intuitive when I was a kid.
He left us at the tender age of 88 with his sense of humor intact, and a thoughtful smile behind his soft blue eyes. I miss him often, but know that he lives on every time my capable hands take the wheel. His skills became mine...
THANKS DAD!
