Well, keyless entry...and the last time I checked, I'd given keys to 22 people...

Only once- There was only ONE time that someone got stuck in Orlando on their commute and used Happy to go to their hotel...and coincidently I happened to come home at the same time [I always parked in precisely the same spot in Orlando's sprawling employee lot]. I simply called my brother, who lived in my house. A couple of weeks later, the truck was back in position-

Another nice car Mike, I think it is a great addition and your wife should enjoy it. I spent quite a bit of time last fall looking for a "Winter Beater" to use while the 928 was hibernating. Looked at BMW's and Audi's, also started looking at Volvo's, hoping to find a wagon but instead stumbled into a 1989 Volvo 780 Bertone coupe and my wife says when the weather gets better she may park her 00 Jimmy and drive the Volvo for the summer.

Oh no, I've created a monster.....

Richard

I heard you survived "the Rock". congrats.

Hello Richard,

The "winter beater" is often more challenging to find than a good shark. It is not often easy to pick out that Spartan in the crowd, but when you find him, he will keep fighting to the bitter end!

I have no experience with Volvo, however I have heard nothing but praise. I'm sure it will treat you...err...the wife well.

If it looks like you are nurturing a potential monster, get her under the car to change the oil and a couple of belts, and see what happens

Best regards,
Mike

I vote for the A8 Even the old V8 Audi (90-94) was neet if you want to spend less. I drove one for a long time and had no problems and the all wheel drive was handy, just not much low end power. Just remember that if you park it next to your 928 it is far enough away to not get door dings

Excellent choice with the A8! That 4.2 V8 is a great engine and I know of a company that is developing a supercharger for it, kind of on the backburner, but wouldn't your wife be suprised on the onramp that next day! "honey, what the hell did you do to the Audi?" Hopefully she'd continue that with, "I love it!" If not, what have gotten yourself into... Anyway, I'd say you picked the right car. The interior is great with those long dash clusters, and the ride is nice, and it doesn't behave like its size. I have its predecessor, the V8 Quattro. Smaller bore V8 at 3.6 and smaller car overall. If I were you in that situation (being that I grew up with BMWs) I'd probably opt for the 740. The mid to late 90s 740s are a STEAL right now and they are fantastic cars. My mother has one and loves it. The interior trim is held on poorly, and she tends to eat up brakes, but the engine at 200+k runs superbly. That 4l V8 puts out 292hp and 295ft/lbs and moves that beast of a car to 60 in 7 seconds flat. If not the 740 or the A8, then definitely the Mercedes S500, or 420. Great inside and out. Not enough buttons to play with though, but great cars and wives love them. SO, if it were me, I'd actually get the A8 having ownership experience with the others! And we're going to need some pics man! If its cool to ask, how much did you pick that up for with the busted fender?

Hello ATR and Barry,

Thanks for the comments. I would rather not mention the price until it is back to pristine condition. Until it comes off the alignment machine, and the painter has been paid, it is a work in progress. I try not to half-*** things, and that has put me in the hole before. I would venture to say though that my accepted offer is less than half of its value.

Unfortunately an issue has arisen that has my concern. It is minor, however if not resolved to my satisfaction, I may take my net and stick, and play on another street.

Hello Lizard,

You just have to sit in one and take it for a K.
Oh... and

I feel the OT board comming.....
