Does anyone know the length of the left side (LHD) pod boltthat secures the pod to the frame? It's the one up high near the headlight switch. I seem to have misplaced it and need to go out and buy another. It's the 5mm hex bolt that secures left side of the pod. PET isn't much help as it doesn't seem to identify these bolts. Normally, I would just shotgun it and buy one of every size that looked "right". But I may have to order online so I'd like to get it right the first time. TIA

 

PET calls it out as an M6x100, Item 17 on 906-00 in the '83-'86 book.

 

The shorter of the two, which I don't see in the PET, is 60mm.

 

OK, 100mm seems about right then, gauging from the second photo I posted. If the right side is 60mm, 100mm seems right for the left. Though #17 in PET looks like the bolt that secures the instrument cluster to the pod through the 2 spacer sleeves since PET calls for 2 of those bolts and 4 sleeves. I will have to remove the right side bolt and measure to be sure.

 

I'm pretty sure the left does double duty, securing the pod and the gauge cluster. My pod is out and I had a little panic as I couldn't find my left bolt, either. Ends up it was stuck in some tape still on the steering column from a P/O install. Double checked it, M6x100.

 

You are correct, sir! I backed out the left side cluster bolt and it miraculously went right into the slot cut for it in the steering column wing. I guess that explains why it's not listed in PET as a separate bolt. Many thanks Jeremy. You saved me a lot of additional hair pulling and cursing. I owe you one next time you're in Florida.
