Default Instrument fault

Hi all, I'm a newbie. I'm restoring a customers 1985 S2 auto. The car runs and drives but most of the instrument cluster doesn't work, such as rev counter, fuel gauge, gear selector, most warning lamps. I took the cluster out to check connectors and fuses all seem OK. I've just got the wiring diagram to start going through but wondered if anyone else seen this. Trip mileage reset works, batt and oil press gauge work and a few warning lamps such as abs and sidelamp on. Also windows, locking and sunroof don't work, but Ill look at that next. Thanks

Clean the contacts on the connectors to the cluster with a pencil eraser.
Check the traces in the circuit foil on the back of the cluster. Look for breaks or hot spots.

Thanks, I checked the connectors and circuit foil, all looked good. The connectors were bright and undamaged and no signs of fractures or hotspots

Check fuse 10 for blown fuse or dirty contacts. There is an instrument cluster ground by the steering column you can check as well, I think you will have to remove the parcel shelf to get to it. Remove the bolt and clean up the surface and the wire terminal rings.
