Default Paint Color Help: Rauchquarzmetallic 662 X5

Sterling G and I were debating my 83' project car color because neither one of us thinks it's 662 Quartz Gray metallic (rauchquarzmetallic). He suggested I consult the 928 CSI team here. History of the car: I bought it last summer from an 18yo who was going to "fix it up" after buying it sight unseen from Washington state and paying RELIABLE $1800 to ship it...they're on TV you know! He then spent $1500 getting a brake booster installed before he tapped out. I need to mention he had no garage...no tools...and no prior mechanical skills before he bought this. Luckily his mechanic was reputable and suggested he list the car on craigslist. I promised to restore the car and he gave me a fair price with the upside he learned a good "financial lesson" as his father put it. It's TMU with ODO at 95,000...runs strong....auto...sunroof delete...and pretty much all original including the radio, etc...starts and runs great. Needs Trans rebuilt and glass out repaint. Will take a lot of work, but I'm up for it. The Sunroof delete and odd color is what intrigued me. Roger assured me at the buy price it was not a loser...and if I did keep and restore it I'd not be running the streets or in bars for at least a year.

Now...this color.....does not have any gray or silver cast to it to make me believe it's NOT 663. Roger also ran the VIN and it says it's a Sunroof car...but it's not. It has original no sunroof headliner, so it's not been modified, so maybe it was painted early in the 83 run....used another color but was badged WRONG as 662? IDK....anything was possible I've been told. It has not been re-sprayed or color changed unless it was the best painter in the world. This is the door jamb and probably the best/least damaged finish on the car.

Here is a close color IMO, but I still don't know. 474 Rosewood (Pallisander) metallic: https://www.rennbow.org/colorwiki/RosewoodMetallic

I'll post pics and if you would like more specific light or angles let me know.

That helps a ton....the RENNBOW pics really didn't look even close. GOOGLE also wasn't helping much. Do you have more pics you can share? Thanks.

If you don't mind sharing....how long ago and how much did the re-paint run? This will be glass out...it's pretty far gone.

Wow...I really love that color! It's subtly different from some more common colors and I don't think I was aware of it before.

This group is THE BEST....I appreciate all the responses. I hope you can sympathize with me if you clicked on the RENNBOW link above. Some of the 911's don't look anything like this color, including the feature picture. This makes me A: Feel better and B: I agree it's a unique color....and was part of the reason I think she's worth saving. I'll keep you all posted on progress. I think it will be late summer before I roll it in...since once this goes on the lift it will be there for a long while.
