I used Aircraft Stripper on mine, but the original coating is pretty tough. It took several applications and then I still had to sand blast. Didn't seem to bother the metal. You might consider taking it to a local powder coat shot and just ask them to strip it. It would save a lot of aggravation.

I’ve come to the same conclusion. Just sent off cam covers after struggling with the mess and several coats of stripper.

I used Multi-Strip Professional, available at most home stores - worked great.
