Default Cabin temperature sensor question

This is the internals of the cabin temperature sensor. Anyone know of its workings? I applied voltage across the circuit, and the fan did not spin. My sense is that the yellow wires monitor temperature while the standard power and ground wires run the fan. Is there any reason why the fan wouldn’t run if voltage was applied, other than the unit not working?

Thanks.

Correct, yellow wires are for the NTC temperature sensor. Brown and red is the power supply to the little motor. Without the motor running, temperature control is very slow.
That thing is not magic. The motor is a very standard unit that you would find in toys or RC model applications. I guess it's just dirty. Take it apart and clean it first. The motor itself is NLA.

Thank you. I ordered a replacement from Mark Anderson after failing to resurrect the dead one. Temperature control is slow in the car, just like you said.
