OD looks like 2.3575", give or take, from the pic that Brent shared in post 27.

Sorry to hear about the forced vacation. Take full advantage of the benefits of course, stay home, stay healthy, and stay safe. I used to be a little miffed when some told me I was not essential anymore, but this time I think discretion is due.

The 928 is certainly not my top priority at the moment.

Bob,
I may have found your solution by accident.
I heated the rear sleeve in the oven and in my haste to get it installed before it started to cool down, I realized that I grabbed a front shock.

thats not a solution, see the unthreaded portion.
The adjuster collar will not allow the spring perch be low enough to put the car at factory ride height,
unless your fitting a spring that has had 1 or more circle cut off it.

I had a customer come in yesterday with brand new Koni shocks and brand new Boge inner collars and adjuster nuts.

I showed him how these new parts that Koni suggested he buy and would work, dont fit.

Somewhere i read that you might be able to fit a large O ring to capture this inner adjuster collar,
but the fact remains the Koni and boge parts are poorly matched .
Others have tried JB welding these inner collars to the shock.

NOTE once the inner collar spins with the spring on it the only way to adjust the lower perch will be to,
remove the shock from the car then take the strut apart.
THIS is why I might seem to say the same thing time N time again,

Just buy the Bilstiens,
they have threaded shocks and come with new lower spring perches and new threaded adjuster collars,
all you need are the shock bumpers and the white discs and your old spring and dust cover and top spring perch.
I suggest to buy a good collar wrench Ohlins sells a nice one i have used for years it works on any 928 stock shock

I agree with that but Dr. Bob was needing / asking for an inch or so more height than what the stock sleeve was offering so I was thinking that this might be a fix for that unless I miss-interpreted his request.

It might work, something to consider for sure. Meanwhile, Geo is a great machinist, so the idea of threading and cutting a piece of common pipe for a new longer ring wasn't far off. Opened the option for him to just section his ring inside the collar if he couldn't get his out. Stars just haven't quite aligned on this yet. No worries. The current height on the car is close to two feet, up on storage stands. Maybe the rain this weekend will wash off the remaining de-icer on the roads here, and the car can come out of hiding. Mountain roads are still closed for snow though. Usually until June, but this wasn't exactly a heavy snow year. Call it global climate snows less.
