Paint the caps too. And lower. I would also consider stripping the rim edge, like Fuchs. If you could polish the edges, that might work well. Looks a bit like KITT.

By the way, I have a set of 16" dish wheels available. I see no reason to have 3 sets of wheels for one car.

Looks fine on a black car.

And ONLY on a black car!

The tire size of these tires are 245/45/16 all the way around. Does it really matter if I have a lower profile than the recomended one? Also, how hard is it to lower the front of the car??

For the 2nd time, I like black wheel's on any color car. Then again, my car is named after a German Brewery.............

I'm suprised no one's mentioned this yet. Has the car been on a lift recently? If so, it will take some driving for the front to "settle" down to normal. If you took the car off the jack, then took the picture, that is the problem.

I would make sure the ride height is within factory range, regardless of the look. Loweringi a 928 - in my own personal experience - messes up the car's handling, unless probably when it is done with a spring/shock combination that is specifically designed for the lower ride height. My car handled horrible, the way the PO had lowered it.

Also, it is quite possible that the car was not yet settled when the above picture was taken. After lifting (e.g. for changing wheels or on an old fashioned alignment rack), it takes a long time for the car to settel into its normal ride height again. That's why you can never lift the car during the alignment process - if you do, the alignment is messed up and your tires willl wear unevenly.

That could be why the car is sitting high because I took the picture right after I put the wheels on the car. How long does it take for the car to settle back to its original height??

I've heard about 20-30 minutes. Of course, a short drive down a somewhat bumpy road will do it pretty quickly, too.

I think Dave meant 20-30 MILES. The suspension will not fully settle on its own without either driving the car or pulling the suspension down manually.

I recently put in new shocks in the back and they had a sleeve that you could move up or down to adjust the height. Does the front suspension have anything like that assuming the car still has the factory suspension in the front??

The more I look at them the more I think......
well OK......
not a bad idea ......
kinda cool

It's not like you've cut off the top to make a convertible.
It's reversible.
When you get tired of the abuse, you can repaint, chrome or buy new
wheels

No Johnny your 1980 did not have adjusters for the front ride height that started about 1983......... You could add that by changing shocks buying the hardware . Are you sure about the tire sizes ?? they just look so small ..

Jim

I am positive of the size of the tires 245/45/16. I will actually take some pictures of them this weekend and post them for you guys to look and see if you think they are any good. I was wondering if the black rims maybe are making the tires look smaller than they actually are. I'm hoping the car will settle down alot more because if it sits really high I will have to modify the front end by getting new suspension for the front.

Just open the hood and jump up and down on the stress bar across the engine.
