As said already, this is an amusing lack of common good sense, and an interesting case of throwing money out of the window... just because he can. Good on the people who benefit from it, but ultimately sad for the guy who is apparently quite lonely in his neurosis.
I cannot even fathom the mentality of judging people in such a way. Lack of common sense? Throwing money out the window? Buying a Porsche period isn't logical, none of us "need" anything associated with why this entire forum exists. But now we draw the line and say "If you by X number of Y.......that's not normal".

My 6 Porsche's (two are black) are only otherwise different colors by happenstance. If all things being equal when I found these cars, except they all happen to be red, or black or whatever....I'd still own the same cars.

I'm the same way, but I don't look down upon my friends who choose not to get their hands dirty. Whether it be lack of interest or skill, jobs / life that doesn't allow them the time, or they simply reached a point where they have enough money which allows them to pay someone. I don't care the reason, all the same to me.

Also , if not for the work they farm out, other friends of mine doing such work wouldn't have a job, that's not good either.

The point is not about buying one or even a few Porsches, the point is about collecting several dozens cars of the same brand in the same colour.
Why the fixation on one single colour, and on one single brand when one has that much money to spend into cars?

What I'm finding interesting here is that there seems to be this ability aka fantasy (this want or need) to compare what this guy is doing,,,, to ANYTHING in any of our experiences or what we are doing... Which I guess is an attempt get ones head around it? Is that it?

Comparing anything this guy is doing to anything we understand, can relate to or are doing ourselves (or might one day) is beyond comparing apples and oranges,,,, lol,,,, it's like comparing apples to a small planet,,, or a solar system.

This guy doesn't have 8 cars (projects)worth about $180thousand dollars,,, he has an unknown number of cares worth,,,, I don't know, maybe, 500million, 700million dollars... Im amazed at folks saying it's like anything like anything that can be related to or understood...

Also,,, the idea that this benefits mankind, society, the economy or the human condition in a way that we understand or can relate to... For this guy,,, yes he may think cars are cool,,, but it's investment property at this point. I know people who know that the value of many things fluctuate... Gold even. Folks like this dude KNOW there are other items that generally don't,,, and will only increase in value UNLESS food, air and water become scarce, the Earth stopped spinning on its access and there is a zombie apocalypse... Cars (of these types) are much easier to manage than traditional realestate,,, he could hire 200 dudes and move all this stuff away in an hour. He can hide money (value) in them... It's a bank account.

Stop defending this using ideas that fit into our small frames... This ain't that,,, as they say.

I don't understand why some folks are getting so bent about this. It's his money, his collection. The fact that he decided to share it in ANY way with the world is a bonus. He didn't have to. You don't like it, feel free to ignore it. No one here has any say over it whatsoever, nor should they. If I had a gazillion bucks, would I have the exact same collection? No...but I sure as hell would have a lot of *&^%ing cars. I'm sure someone, somewhere, would take exception to it, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't care.

Lol... Yeah, I was a little surprised myself... I just, like I thought I was able,,, gave an opinion... Next thing ya know,,, I'm a liar and a communist, lol... And a Bernie Sanders supporter - or whatever... At some point, I think we stopped talking about cars and shifted to deeper ideas and values systems. That's ok I guess.

As men, living in perhaps the most powerful nation in the known universe,,, maybe this is something we should be talking about? Our responsibility? lol,,,, but maybe on a different forum hahahaha... No harm no foul, I say.

If you want to discuss the uses of wealth judgmentally, yup, do it in a different forum for sure!

This one is about the awesome cars displayed in this collection.

I totally dig the fact that someone with this capacity for bringing great supercars together, puts a 928 in his collection of pinnacle cars!

Great point! Looking at how rare most of those cars are (1 of 1 in some instances), it really spikes the curiosity about that 928. It may be quite special.

I would love to meet Barry Skolnick. He seems like a great person and a fun character. Anyone that orders a custom yacht painted in Ferrari Red just does it for me. And his girlfriend is smoking hot! Nice play on naming Ikonick with a K and NICK from Skolnick as well, very creative.
