Default Switched to Pentofrost NF coolant

With what I read on the forums about coolant its seems to be a subjective topic. Since I was in the need for a coolant change, I decided to go with Pentofrost NF. 5 qty (1.5L) bottles equal to 2 gallons. I mixed it with distilled H2O.
Great results. Prior to the flush, the needle use to go a smidgen below the top white line. Now the results are pictured here....running cooler! I have no idea when the coolant was changed with PO. I guess the results could happen with G-05...but I'm going to stick with this coolant.

Good choice, I've used pentofrost in all my Pcars for years and have had zero problems!

Did you mistakenly post a before picture? It's still a smidgen below the top white line.

There is no expectation that changing the coolant will help the engine will run cooler, but that is great.
Engine temperature is a function of the thermostat, ambient temperature, phase of the moon, etc.
I'll just be happy if it doesn't eat the engine! (link).
We used the same mix, 5L Pentosin NF plus distilled water, about 4 gal total with an airlift, easy-peasy.

No doubt that new AF is a good thing...but if you temp gauge isn't moving in at least a third to half of the range of the "white lines" in everyday driving, it's not measuring right anymore, and simply disturbing the system with a change, created a change. Unlike a common car that has been made to show "Cold" "Warm" or "Hot And Dead" only, our's will sweep broadly in daily cruise use.

Which then generates complaints from people who are used to glued gauges designed to not move much at all.

The thermostat sets engine temp, not coolant.

The gauge, at least S4+, should have a few clearly visible points on it in the sweep of the needle, where you can tell what the status of the vents and fans are. Especially in winter. This takes a clean, no corrosion path, from a good sensor to the gauge, including a clean set of associated contacts in the pod. Your needle position for me is vents fully open, fans on high "Holy **** its hot".

I think you're just seeing "a change" in the system, but I don't think it's a change in temperature.

As noted hundreds of times, the gauge lies a lot as the circuit ages, a temp gun tells the story.

Point taken...thanks. I know it was a big discussion comparing this coolant to G-05 and Porsche coolant. I think I don't have to change it no time soon hopefully.

Nah..you did a good thing. This should push more people to be more critical of their coolant types and changes.

How thoroughly did you flush your system (or did you?). I don't know that you need to, I'm just a little paranoid about it, given some previous discussions on Dexcool mixing with other coolants.

I'm currently running G-05 but plan to change to Pentosin NF at next change.

I follow what GB procedure to flush getting 10 gallons of distilled...etc.etc. Since I dont know what the PO had done...I hope the S4 reacts well this this coolant change
