I need some help! I have a noisy bearing on the fan pulley. It's the rear bearing on the pulley side. I can squirt a bit of oil on it and it's quiet for about 10 seconds and then gets noisy again. Since I isolated the problem, I ordered a replacement from eBay and installed it. This time it was noisier than before. I then ordered a bearing online and it was still noisy like the first one. So I then ordered front and rear Porsche bearings and it's still noisy. Each time I can squirt some oil on that rear bearing near the pulley and things get quiet for about 10 seconds and then the noise comes back. Picture below is where I squirt the oil. What am I missing???
Whoa - wait - I asked because they could be too loose OR too tight. The WSM shows the proper deflection for tightness on the belts. That info is posted somewhere here too, and a Google search should help you find it. Just make sure the free and easy stuff is done first, like checking belt tension and making sure it is to spec, then move forward from there.
Have you replaced the belt? it could be belt noise and when you spray lube on the bearing you may be getting over spray on the belt causing it to quiet down temporarily.
Bearing spinning in the housing? Should be able to feel something wrong with the carrier off the engine. Could it be the viscous thats making a noise? Mine is all electric now, so that expensive stuff is all gone.
