Default What is this ?

While perusing under the hood, I noticed I may be missing a vaccum line somewhere.
Standing on the passenger side of the car, looking under the intake to the throttle body, there is a round device bolted there that has a vaccum connection. I have no vaccum line going to this.
By my strange explanation, can anyone tell me what this is ?
Thanks

From your description, I am going to say it's the vacuum limiter.

It is supposed to burp air past the the throttle when the throttle is closed at higher rpms to mix with any fuel that might have been injected and not burned. It was deleted on the later L-Jet cars.

It can be replaced with rubber 3/4" and 5/8" heater hose blockoff caps without issue.

oooops, sorry about that. It is a 1981. It is a round (something) bolted to the throttle body I believe. It is about 6" round....
thanx

As part of chasing vacuum leaks, I pulled mine off and capped the ends at the throttle body (at Porkens suggestion). I noticed absolutely no difference when driving, and I haven't installed the replacement unit that is in my garage. It is supposed to smooth the throttle ramp if you come off the gas fast. So instead of the RPMs dropping off a cliff, they drop to about 1100 (or so) quickly and then more slowly to idle.
