HIGHLY recommend Stan. He's gotten my 928 very well sorted, fun and reliable and it absolutely worth the trip for anything that could use some 928 expertise.

Plus, if it something you can fix at home, Stan will walk you through it. You can't get that from other mechanics.

Unfortunately Stan is around 68 miles each way from me - too far.
Looking for an honest professional shop to maintain and tune up my 928 and 944

If you don't already have it...purchase AAA Premium, wait a day or two, then have it flat bedded to Stan, then back again when she's ready (free towing/include..w/membership) ...worth every penny and you'll still have AAA for the rest of the year.YMMV. T

Understood. If you can classify the work you want done to Porsche specific (basic work) vs 928 specific, then that should help. Be aware that some tasks that may seem universal actually need someone with 928 expertise (timing belts, alignments, suspension, electronics, etc.), otherwise you will have a hefty price tag with even worse problems.

I'm sure some Jersey drivers will chime in with some suggestions. I actually saw a red one in a gas station parking lot in Bridgewater last Saturday.

Actually I think AAA Premium should be considered part of the standard expense of a 928. I feel so much more comfortable with it when I drive out of state.

Why not? 70ish miles is not that far.

Some folks ship their cars long distances for the level expertise that Stan has (and a couple others).

Some folks go the other way and 'ship' the mechanic a long way to work on their cars.

Truly qualified 928 techs are not a common thing.

While there may be a qualified tech somewhere in Central NJ, Stan is widely regarded as one of the top in the country.
There's also "Panos Pete" Kraas up on Long Island. He's also well regarded. But I think that would be farther for you.

I'm in Staten Island, PM me your contact info and what work you need done, if that's close enough for you.
