Default Adjust Wipers Parked Position?

My wipers do not sit low against the cowl. How do I adjust them?

Randy, I think you have your wipers just about a low as you will be able to get them. However, there is a thread, or maybe two, on this Forum about adapting some wiper arms from a VW Corrado (I think) to the 928 which put the blades very low like I think you want. The problem is that that version of the VW was not available in the US and so the wiper arms must come from Europe, if you can figure out a way to order them. I have thought about having someone there order up a bunch and sending them to me, but never got around to it. You will need something like two left arms and some trim pieces, as I recall, and then the arms must be modified a bit to have them fit. Find the threads and you will get the real info, including part numbers.

If I have the right-hand wiper too low it whacks the painted part right below the windshield....what's the remedy? New motor?

Where they park also depends on how much water lubricates their sweep, if you have them too low they might hit the cowl in heavy rain.

Its when they're on high speed...so the passenger wiper I've adjusted upward on the windshield so it doesn't hit.

OK, so current parked position is correct? They seem high.

Is that 'stopped' position at the bottom of the travel?

Or do they dip down a bit either before or after stopping there?

Lift the blades off the screen (as you might to clean the exterior of the screen), turn them on and off , then lower them back to the glass. They are then in their lowest parked position as defined by the linkages and position on their shafts. Are the arms splined to the shafts, or just friction located? Have never had mine off.

If they dance a bit when parking then the main arm attached to the wiper motor needs to be loosened and reattached (until the dancing stops).

That's a good thread for this subject. Randy's motor may (or may not) be fine, but the 'reassembly' part of it covers what he needs.

My question was more towards whether or not the 'park' position was where it's supposed to be, at the bottom of the travel. It's possible that the 'stop' spot is not at the bottom of the travel, that they go to bottom, come up a bit and that's the 'park' position. Not the blade hopping around or 'chattering', but 'real' movement.

If that is the lowest point that they travel, then you can just take the blade off at the pivot and put it back a little lower. That will lower the uppermost point of travel, so you may want to experiment a bit. Be careful, if you put it too low, the blade will go off the bottom of the windshield and hit the cowl (Captain Obvious, at your service).
