don't paint it Cognac Metallic Brown. I like being the only one at every event it goes to.

color is indeed subjective, A likes this, B likes that .
The only thing i'm afraid of are "rare" colors that look nice at first but get "boring" very soon and even regret choosen that color…. while the more traditional colors are perhaps a bit "boring" from the start but don't get more "boring" ….
my cars are black, red for the sporty ones and the rally 928 white to make room for sponsors

If I could have any choice for a color combo, I would probably choose meteor gray metallic and tan, or platinum metallic over tan. My car is black, and the only way I would buy a black car is if it had a tan interior. IMHO, the 928 lends itself best to metallic colors, because the thing was like from f*#!ing outer space when it came out. It’s always been a futuristic machine and so whatever you go with, I’d humbly recommend something metallic. Tan interiors to me look great with a very wide range of colors, but I love gray over tan- super elegant.

I'm thinking about changing my black '85 5-speed resto project to Austin Yellow - B67 (BMW). It's a tri-coat metallic with a big flop and I think it could fit the S3 well.
Garnet and Velvet Red are both beautiful colors. I'm not a Guards Red kind of guy, but I like almost all of the other original red colors.
Also, I can pull the data on any Glasurit color.

The Porsche color code for Zyclam Red is LZ3T

You can get it in spray cans through Amazon, so someone has the formula for it...

I found two BMW codes on my Glasurit app that appear very similar to the Zyclamrot 928, codes 313 and 490.

If you want to stay in the grey/silver family, check out “Steel Cities Grey”, a Corvette metallic from the 60’s or 70’s. I personally (and everything about paint is personal preference) think Metallics make the body lines pop.
