Default Identify Object in Fuel Tank

I’m going through the fuel system in my newly acquired 1984. There is a plastic piece in the bottom of the gas tank with an o-ring on it. Anyone have an idea what it might be?

That looks like a fuel strainer or it could be an I tank pump
you have the best chance of figuring this out the picture is small on my phone

I will try to remove it from the tank this afternoon so that I can get a better picture. It’s not the fuel strainer unless it’s a part of the strainer. Pic of removed strainer attached. I have a new strainer on the way I can compare it to later this week.

Looks like the remnants of the fuel strainer. I pulled one out of a 924 that had that plastic center like the one in your picture

Thanks! A piece of the fuel strainer was my first guess. The new fuel strainer should be delivered today so I should be able to compare.

The new strainer was delivered today. I’m fairly certain that the mystery piece is not from the old strainer.
