Default stock radio

How does the factory amp work and where is it located? I just had my alpine installed and the guys said that it was still hooked up to the factory amp. How much wattage is this factory amp and is it turned on automatically etc. Any info would be reat. Thanks a bunch.

Search "amp" and you will get a lot of good info, although i can't say that you will learn the wattage of the stock unit. I too will be installing a new
Alpine head unit ( it's not in yet ).... there may be compatability problems
between alpine and fact. amp??

PS search for "speakers" too. LOL

On the GTS the stock radio is made for Porsche by Alpine as is the changer. Mine came with the CR1 (Alpine) and I have just changed it for the CDR7807 another Porsche/Alpine unit.
I am not an audiophile so I am very satisfied with the stock set up.

Get rid of the factory amp, the sooner the better. I just did and my kenwood 45w/channel sounds much better without the amp than it used to with the amp.

The amp is placed between the door and the passenger seat on the floor.

Have a look at these links:
