Default Seatback Partially Working

Hi guys, the seatback on the passenger side will move forward but won't recline. All other buttons on the switches are working fine.

Since the movement forward is functioning, would this be a switch problem? how can it be traced?

I have the opposite problem with my car, it reclines but won't go forward. My understanding is that the motor is that there is a single motor and the switch just reverses polarity. I haven't solved mine yet, but hopefully it's just the switch. I took mine apart and tried cleaning it, but it didn't solve it.

^This.

If it moves one way, but not the other, it's almost certainly a switch issue.

There's threads on disassembling & cleaning the switches. One very good suggestion is opening them up inside of a gallon size ziplock bag. There are little bitty ***** & springs inside that will go everywhere.

It's a lot easier to do this with the seats out. If you have them out, you can 'bench test' all the motors by putting 12v directly to the wires that go to the motors.

Sounds like a switch problem for us both. When i flip the 2-pin connector under the seat, it works the other way!

Can confirm the dropped *****. I didn't have the luxury of removing the seat because of a stripped bolt, but if you monkey with the wires underneath you can get enough slack to pull the switches out enough from the side to turn them upside down in a bag and make it easier to work with. My plan was to wait for 928intl's Christmas sale to get a new switch.

I did get mine working again today. Last time I only cleaned the contacts for the rockers I thought were for recline. Turns out it's the top and bottom rockers not the left and right rockers when you look at how the mechanism works, despite pushing left and right on the switch for that action. Pushing left and right moves the vertically oriented white plastic beam on the back of the switch move and reverse the polarity to the motor. Guess I shouldn't have been lazy the first time and cleaned all of them.

So give cleaning yours a shot. Might wind up saving yourself a few bucks.
