I've been surprised at just how little it takes to interfere with a magnetic sensor.
I used to work on cargo airplanes that used magnetic proximity sensors to detect when various moving parts were where they were supposed to be, and we'd often find that a faint smudge of grease getting on the sensor could throw the sensor off enough to cause an intermittent reading.
Our first test after finding a write-up related to the prox sensors was to check which sensor was being reported, and then wipe it down with a clean rag.
My guess is that 90% of them were then signed off as fixed with just that little bit of cleaning, since they responded properly when tested after cleaning.

Cayenne pepper shaken on the floor under and around vehicles stored in questionable places works well to keep rodents away. They get it on their feet and absolutely go bonkers and leave the area...
That is why I have no "Nests" photos to share from decades of winter car storage.

I posted this 9 years ago. Daughter had smoke fill the cockpit on way home from Radford. Fortunately she pulled over and called me and with input from rennlist advised her to shut off the heater before the resister pack could finish the job
