Interior lights remain on with doors and hatch closed

Well, you might give Tom or Mark at 928 International a call.
Used ones are half off until Christmas (every used part in stock - it's the annual Christmas present to us from Mark).
New would be better, of course, but used in good shape is fine, Just adjust the hatch latch so you don't have to slam it (and then don't).
If you call them, no need for a part number.
However, if you want to be able to find part numbers (for any part), download a copy of the PET "Katalog". It's on the PCNA site under 'Classic'. There's a link in the "New Visitor" sticky thread.

Related info for those playing along at home:
Starting in MY 1988, the interior lights include a time delay relay that includes connections from the door switches and from the ignition switch. Diagnosis of interior light problems on 88+ cars will be different than for earlier cars, as the connection for the door switches is not made to the lamp assemblies any more. Looking at the brown-with-white-tracer wires at the switches will only tell you if the relay has pulled that circuit to ground, not whether the door or hatch switches are closed, indicating a door or hatch not fully closed. The circuits vary slightly between 88 and 95, so later S4, GT and GTS should spend some time on the lighting wiring diagrams for their year to define year-specific troubleshooting methods.

Wisconsin Joe: Thank you for your reply. I have purchased parts from 928 international and would not hesitate to do so again. From past experience, I know if I simply describe what I need they will point me in the right direction. But identifying part numbers is an exercise that I like to do for my own education. I found the entire part (928.512.055.40) in the PET catalogue I downloaded from Porsche (https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...artscatalogue/) as shown in illustration 803-05; however, I was unable to identify the internal parts of the lower receiver latch.

John

Alan: I disconnected the ground wire at the bottom of the receiver section of the latch so there is no longer any electrical connection to the latch. Despite that, the interior lights still come on when I mate the couplers in this image.
Could there be a wiring issue within the coupler itself than is creating a permanent ground?
Regards,
John
