Default Back in love again, project time.

So for a few years not i have not been driving my 87 much. Have had a surging idle and it would cut off at idle... have had a wicked battery drain issue, and some rust starting under back quarterglass.....

I think i have the idle fixed.. (WD40 in the hose).. good for now.

i have a parts car to pull a steering rack off of to use temporarially

going to the body shop in a few weeks for the rust repair and some paintwork where a cat pissed on the cover and "melted" clearcoat in a spot....

so my next issues to fix are the battery drain, hvac fan replacement, and trying to figure out my blend doors...

Ever since i have had the car the HVAC has never worked right... i have replaced all the actuators except the one under the passenger footwell. the temp is always the same.. in the winter it is lukewarm, and in the hot summer is is almost cool

after driving it a few times recently I am all in for getting it back up to snuff.....

Slow and steady wins the race! The caveat is that it is easy to lose engagement with projects where this is true. I have been guilty of the same thing. Welcome back!

My problem the last few years have been lack of funds as well as time..

years back Hurricane Irene hit and sucked a crap ton of money out of my wallet......
then Kids private school,

then had to get a bigget boat I now have 4, a 8' RIB as a tender for the sprortfish, a 13' whaler that we are restoring, a 23' center console robalo and finally a 35 bertram sportfisherman that has a never ending appetite for cash....Oh, also scuba diving... another wallet/time sucker......

A few years ago my son got his first car, a project 96 E36 BMW 328 IS 5 speed.... we bought it as a nonrunner when he was 15 and eventually turned it into an M3.. all M3 trim, seats, and finally an engine swap..

two weeks after the engine swap he was t-boned and totaled the car..

Shortly afterwards hurricane florence creamed us and cost me another $15K.......

we replaced his BMW (AKA ticket magnet) with a 2004 disco2, and have since added all the goodies, lift, tires, etc....

SO my time and money the last few years has been diverted and every time i went to drive the car the battery was dead, or the interior wasn't put back together ( i bought another 87 with a black interior as a parts car to swap to a black interior. Just was frustrated with it and thought many times about just selling it as is....

BUT after doing some spirited driving, and having a list of my other projects checked off Im diving back in....

If anyone feels like coming down to the coast (southern outer banks) and making a new 928 buddy and turning some wrenches I'd welcome the help...
