And, I guess, the proper hub carrier, to boot... Thankfully,,,, this isn't going to stop me from driving her...
Really tho,,, what about the carrier and sensor? I guess the sensor I have would work, no? And, what about a fabing a shim or spacer to make up for the length of the sensor shaft I have for the 'wrong' carrier? Ever hear of anyone having luck with a spacer?

You definitely need to match equipment up in a methodical fashion for your particular antilock system. I haven't studied sensors lately, but others are working actively to find substitutes.
Curious,Where are you located?

I'm in Staten Island,,, NYC... One of the 5 greatest Boroughs,,, as they say, lol...
And yes! I've been following along with the geniuses here inventing and solving our problems... Fingers crossed!

If the ABS isn't functioning, the brakes will not be affected, other than you won't have ABS.
(Basic explanation for anyone who doesn't know)
What the ABS does is monitor wheel rotation, and if an individual wheel gets too slow, it modulates the brake fluid pressure to that wheel to get it to the same speed. It's supposed to stop wheels from locking up and skidding.
If it can't sense the wheel speed properly, if it is sensing too much difference or not sensing a particular wheel, then it shuts off and sends an error message. You can pull the bulb from the cluster to make the warning light 'go away'.
And for you 'young'uns' out there, when I learned to drive, we didn't have ABS. We learned to apply the brakes gently on slippery surfaces, feel when the wheels locked up and modulate the brakes by pumping the pedal.
We also ran into stuff a lot more.

Quick question - maybe its a dumb one - but sometimes a yes or no answer helps with the plotting and palnning - and sleeping:
Does/Will Cruise Control work in these machines with an ABS fault?

It should. Lots of cars with cruise either before ABS was available or didn't have it when it was optional.

Hmm. Unless there is another problem, the cruise doesn't seem to be working with the ABS sensor light on, on the dash.
I removed, repacked and reset the front bearings yesterday... Yup, all the wheels have the 87-90 tooth reluctor (new vocab for me)...
My problem is that RH rear passenger axle and hub... Gotta get on it. I will and do want a working cruise control and ABS system... Fingers crossed it's not the impossible to get sensors for the 86!!!!
Thanks all for your help up to this point.
Trusting all are well...

There's a pretty good diagnostic procedure for the Cruise in the WSM. If you go through that and it still doesn't work, 99% chance it's the brain box (probably 75% chance it's the brain box without doing the diagnostics).

Got ya, Joe... Thank you... Electronics are definitely not my favorite thing but if to begin it means taking a pointy soldering iron to the back of the board and heating contacts (no spills) I'm more than willing to give it a try and see what happens...
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Shouldah knowd it!
Nothing can be as "simple"...
