Chuck informed me that he's keeping track of wrecked 928s in at least the GTS and (I think) the GT categories, but I don't know about other flavors of 928. If you look at the GTS listings you'll find the occasional car listed as 'wrecked' or something to that effect.

I've seen quite a few wrecked 928 at 20th street. Many had hits on the front end. Some had the front frame smashed up.

However I have never seen a 928 fold into a mangled wreck like you see other cars. Sure they dent up but anyone here ever see one with the engine pushed far back into the driver area?

I didn't see it myself but I heard about a bad one near me. A couple was killed when their 928 wrapped itself around a tree. I understand it got airborne and hit the tree sideways. I heard about it someone who witnessed the aftermath. The car was Venetian Blue like mine, so he thought it might have been me!

Unhappy not for the faint hearted

I found the pictures of my 84 that were taken the day after the accident. Here they are.

I do put all 928s I come across that have been Wrecked. Mark Anderson has supplied me with a couple and I've gotten several others from PO's. I have added a couple myself and if you guys would like to submit any, I'll be happy to add them.

BTW, The most recent salvage is a "carbequed" 89 GT here:

These pics are HARD to look at..........

Here's one of the pics:

Speaking of bad 928 crashes, I head of a fatality in a 928 about 9 years ago, on the sepulveda pass in LA, going over the hill on one of the back roads. I guess the car was hit really hard in the rear by a truck, the gas tank ruptured, and there was a fire that caused the death.

I too, am curious about any serious injuries or deaths in 928s, so as to better guage what might be a good idea for strengthening those areas...

After hearing that one story on the news, I wondered about the possibility of a fuel cel...

Hmmmmm...
