1984 no start
Open second link, under post 7 of the current thread.
That thread has link that shows actual diagrams that show the difference between the 83 and 84 alarms.
Use that to guide. It very clearly shows reference in the wiring diagrams to the bridging pins.
In today's thread here, Kiln quoted a recent 2016 thread where I must have gotten it wrong.and the bad advice came from me actually. It's a nightmare that I did that. And as soon as Austin or somebody else verifies, we will fix that thread accordingly.

Chris, I am not sure where the bad advice originates, actually, and I most definitely was not trying to call you out on it. I do appreciate your commitment to getting it right.
Confession.. I picked the INCORRECT Z1 to Z4 alarm bridge straight out of my own notes! Embarrassing and scary.. Upon further investigation, you and I are not the only ones that have given the incorrect advice. From what I can tell, I can't find any prior posts where I offered the wrong bridge assignment. I do think it is a worthwhile effort to go back and correct those posts.
Fortunately, the OP in this thread hadn't planned to bridge the Z plug until tomorrow morning. Also, I see no mentions of past visits from Lord LUCAS from incorrect bridge orientations. FWIW I haven't checked the other forums.
OP, my apologies! Chris, I think my bad advisement is independent from yours.
Well, it's all good!
I fixed the wonky thread that helped mislead us
There are a couple good sources for confirmation.
The Central electric print within the 84 wiring diagrams references the jumpable electrodes. Look on the periphery of the diagram, the z plug, and it shows where a bridge would go.
Another place is in the electrical training docs in the CDs. They do a multi page description of 83 v 84 alarm.
That said...am wondering why the 84 is stalling in gear.

So if I am assuming correctly you are saying that the alarm system should not have any kind of anti theft protection on an 84 Auto gear shift? The times that it did start it seemed to be running perfectly with no hesitation and had an instant kill of the engine when it sensed drive mode.
OK I am ready to put on the bridge, Can someone please verify on how to identify 4 and 6 terminals? I assume top two terminals are 1 and 2 that would mean 4 and 6 would be the second and third bottom terminals on the right hand side of the z plug. Correct?
Now I am absolutely confused. On the fuse panel there is no z plug? Only the receptacles for the plug on the Z portion of the fuse panel. Of which there are only 6 male prongs. What I believer would be the number 6 prong is either broken or was never there.
The Z plug is black and in the middle of the CE plugs. That may be the source of confusion since the arrangement deviates from the normal to A-Z that we're looking for. The Z plug is to the right of the Y plug. Those plugs only have 6 connection points, so they're connectors are also shorter.
OK update with car running. I never did figure out the plug but started to investigate the fuel supply. I discounted the fuel pump because I was told they just put a new one on. After realizing it was not humming I gave it a few "this is how we fix in Russia" love taps it starting pumping. Defective fuel pump or just a bad connection is likely cause. It also could be that putting new gas in might have jarred something loose and stuck in the pump. The car did sit with bad gas for a lot of years.
