For Sale 1987 S4 $8900
I find the Rennlist classified section confusing. The new marketplace is clearly the future direction of the classified section, but the old catagories, one for parts, one for vehicles, is still active. I suppose I could list in both, maybe I will. In the meantime, I created a listing on eBay, but will make you 928 experts aware of the listing and give you a little discount. Thanks, Joe

1987 Porsche 928 S4 for sale. A great start for your classic car Porsche project. The S4 version of the 928, with its 300+HP 5.0L V8, has been identified by collectors as one of the Porsches you want to buy before they run away on the upside. This one has had the reconditioning started and is now ready for you to take over. Lots of recent work including the timing belt, water pump, hoses, steering rack and tires. The body is in good shape, with a strong rust-free chassis, an engine that starts, and it steers and brakes. The car was last driven in April of 2018, but it is currently only drivable for short trips as it has a fuel delivery problem that will not permit the engine to rev above 1300 rpm. It can be driven onto a trailer.
More details on the body; The body panels are in good, dent free condition. I have a new, unpainted, replacement lower spoiler for the front as well as the original, painted, lower molding for the driver’s door. The front bumper cover has a tear on the lower passenger side. The front fenders have clearcoat peel.
The interior must have been stunning in black and white when new. The door cards hint at this beauty. It would be great to see that again. The interior needs a thorough cleaning. The driver seat is worn through on the outer bolster, the carpets are original, there is cracking in the dash and the windshield is cracked. There are many small projects that need attention like the right brake light socket, window switches, and probably others that I haven’t discovered. The sunroof works but I only tried it once and am not trying it again as it was slow – needs cleaning and lubricating.
It is time for my stewardship of this classic to end. I have scaled back my operations and simply have too many vehicles than I have time for. I will be listing a couple more in the coming weeks – a 1983 928S 5 speed and an early 1986 928S 5 speed.
This car is sold as is, with no warranty. The title is in hand, in my name, clear of any brands, and free of any liens or encumbrances. Only one key (black).
Thanks for reading this listing and pick up this 928S4 before someone beats you to it. More and more of the S4 models are going into collections leaving fewer yet to be acquired.

Mileage is 110870
Thanks guys. The mileage is a fixed field in eBay, so I did not include it in the text. Thanks for pointing out the omission. The odometer shows 110870, but...I do not think it is working.
I took a photo of the build sheet, but had not decoded it yet. Thanks Kevin.

I wonder if all It needs is a fuel pump?

I am still working on the fuel issue. I did test the fuel pump and it pumps like crazy, but I did not measure the output, so it is possible that it falls short of requirements. I fear that if we start down the diagnosis trail, the thread will become hijacked and since I'd like to keep the thread related to the sale, let's no go there here. I posted another thread a few days ago about jumpering (is that even a word?) the fuel pump relay https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-position.html .Even if I got it running as designed, which I believe is easily achievable given that it drove less than two years ago, I still would like to sell the car. Bring me your offers.
Thanks,
Joe

Appreciate all the interest and watchers, but I'm looking for a sale, so I lowered the price $500 to $8450 on eBay. Will do a little better for Rennlist buyer.
