intake runners and throttle body LH jet
I am looking to convert my CIS car to EFI. I am in the process of investigating the jobs that need to be done.
This conversion needs other intake runners (or elbows) to accept the electronic injectors. Can the intake runners from an LH jet car be used? If so, which cars have these?
Will the throttle body of an LH jet car be suitable for this because of the throttle position sensor?
Will this fit to the rest of the engine and intake plenum?
Thanks for any advice. I haven't bought any EFI system yet but with the engine out this might be a suitable moment to do some decission making.

Hi , i must have here a box with all the LH intake stuff.... but not a MAF and ECU.
don't know the condition…. it was "good" 10 years ago….idea was to make it work with a stand alone ECU , never realised.
if you pick it up , you can have it for what you want to give for it .
Sure spider head , elbows, injectors, fuel rails, throttle body with position sensor....
PS i'm near Ghent .

What car do you currently have now?
This is a pretty involved job. I don't think you can get away with just changing the injection. You likely have to change the ignition too.
You need the computers and ALL the sensors. O2, CPS, Temp2 probably a couple others. You'll need a few other things like the ignition amps.
You might be able to get away with changing less if you go with a US 80-84 L-Jet setup. But I don't know how easily you are going to find one where you are.

Hi Ad , as promised a pic of what i have.... and damned , i do not find the passenger side fuel rail. Can be somewhere, can be thrown away….
And i believe Joe, this won't be a easy job , nor cheap….
haha, i have here a table with a "million $" in parts even without the MAF and ECU …. as i see "new" Porsche... rare to see a part less than $500.... woooowww.
Injectors and fuel pressure regulators are +10 years on the shelf…. so i assume they need a "rebuild" or at least a check.
Some air connections are closed with a "filler" as we didn't plan to use these , can of course be drilled out.
PS Ad, i would not even daire to think of a swap CIS/LH... but if you want the parts , make me a offer ….and please here ,open to the members , not pm.... that's what i like on a forum.

I am at decision time now because my CIS system is on the shelf for some years so it needs a EUR 800 overhaul. Might as well put that money into a megasquirt system, enabling to use modern fuels with ethanol in it.

I don't know what you are expecting, but since you want this into the open, I don't want to make an insulting offer but I have noticed that prices for 928 parts are all over the place, ranging from an incredible EUR 100 for an almost complete engine with reconditioned heads to more than new price for a used gear shifter.
As I am from the Netherlands (you know where this is heading to) I am making you an incredibly low offer because this is a risky job with many pitfalls. I just want to prevent it becoming a money pit with no bottom. So my starting bid is EUR 100 for the lot. And some great dutch beers of course.

You hadn't mentioned going M/S before. Or I missed it.
That changes things a lot.
Still a pretty 'deep' project, but much easier than trying to put an LH in it.

well Ad , your offer is accepted
PS my price idea was me&wifey could have a good mussel meal with a glass of wine …..hhhahhaha….so that fits !
I will look again once IF i don't find that passenger side fuel rail.....
Perhaps interesting for you : if it is not "that " urgent …. i'm waiting for parts to arrive at Biesheuvel in Nieuwendijk .... ( a bit above Breda) . I go there always on Saterday mornings… we could meet there….
But have no idea of when…. can take another 2 weeks.... of course you are free to collect the parts at my home.

I have no rush. I hope you can keep it for me until we can meet in Nieuwendijk at Biesheuvel Autosport. Seems like a fun place to be. I'll be on business trip from 22nd to 28th of September so hopefully I am lucky to meet you after that. If this doesn't fit, I'll come to Gent.
And I am more than happy with the kind offer. Thanks again. I hope you will enjoy the mussels. Do they combine well with jenever as well? Or is Muscadet wine the perfect pairing?

Okay Ad, now for the wine with mussels… i like a Moesel wine or if budget allows , a Pinot Gris.
I will put all parts in a box for you , no problem. Next week we do a rally in the weekend , so it wil be for later on....we will see after 28/09.
Yes, Biesheuvel shop is like a candy store for me ….

This company makes an adapter to use your CIS intake with EFI injectors:
https://www.bitzracing.com/products/injector_bungs/
If you want to change intakes anyway, you don't need a EuroS EFI intake, the L-Jet units will work the same and are much easier to find.
It's actually not that complicated, especially when starting with a CIS car. The CIS system has no idea what the ignition is doing, they are completely independent.
You can even get away not installing a crank sensor by using the tach signal coming out of the ignition box which is fed by the green wire. That is how L-Jet operates.
When I finally get around to converting my 79 to EFI, I might just do the fuel system first since getting that dialed in and running is a lot less complex than converting the ignition system.
I've been pondering this for many years, eventually I might actually do something.

And I was (mistakenly) thinking he was going to put the LH out of an S2 in.
I think that would require the EZF too.
Since he's going M/S (or other stand alone system), you are correct. The green wire ignition will work perfectly well with that (as it would with an L-Jet, which I mentioned).

The only thing they share is the crank trigger, otherwise the LH / EZF have no idea what the other one is doing.
I converted my L-Jet 81 to LH / EZF, hindsight I should have went with AEM but at the time just seemed like something fun to do.
