I did the entire replacement as a pre-emptive move (nothing wrong with my 84 foil which is fully functional). Will a 84 foil fit the 83 Euro?

82 to 84 - USA & ROW are the same foils - so yes it will fit the ROW 83

I put the pod back in and now have all the warning lights turning on with the key in "RUN' position. When started I get all the warning lights are off except "Brake Pads' (sensors not hooked up), Temp & fuel are pegged at top of range, Speedo goes to 40 MPH (sitting still),.Tach doesn't move and Oil Pressure & volts are at bottom of scale...So it looks like I only got half lucky....Roger says that '83 & '84s use the same PC Foil....so it looks like the one you have will fit...Now the question is: what do you want for it? PM me & let me know if you want to sell it. The insulation layer is delaminated on mine and some of the traces may be internally broken.
Aren't we all glad they didn't use the plastic sheet circuit board approach to the CE Panel...LOL

Put 'WALTSTAR's foil in my pod, (Thanks Waltstar) it's almost a perfect fit, except with a bulb in the ABS warning socket, the car won't start...took out the bulb & the car started!!
My volt meter doesn't register, but I get 13.5V at the hot post with the car running, so I'm pretty sure the problem in in the pod..

Instrument pod update: I had to put another instrument cluster in because the connector blade broke off!! I guess 37 year old plastic can be brittle! Power-'ON gets me all the warning lights & fuel gage reads 1/2 ( That's about Right ) No voltage Reading....
"Start" pegs the Fuel & OIL pressure comes up to 5 Bar, No Volt meter, No Tach,; "Running" All warning lights off. NO TACH or SPEEDO. Temp comes up to normal in a few minutes.. I get 13.5 V at the jump post when running So I think the problem is with the plug itself, Maybe misaligned contacts in the Plug..?? Any thoughts on this???

Check all of your pins inside the sockets on the wiring harness. I have been chasing a problem with mine and finally realized that some of these pins had lost their tension and/or were pushed back in the connector.

The back of the connector flips up and then the pins just slide out the back - be careful to only take 1 at a time out or make a chart of which one goes where in the plug.

Back of cluster harness connector

With the cover flipped up

Mangled pin inside of connector. These are obsolete, but I have found a similar pin and am ordering a few to test.

THANKS DrScottsmith, I'll try that... I didn't know the plugs opened up...I was imagining doing "Micro-Surgery" in the plug....Let us know how the replacement piug tips work ..
