Default '94 Gts

Anyone familiar with the '94 GTS 5-speed with 20k miles advertised by Isringhausen, Springfield, Illinois in yesterdays WSJ? What would a car like this be worth?

It's a shame that they've poured so much armor-all on the interior. It will never be the same again.

How much is the baseball hit over the fence to win a World Series worth ?? Point is there is NO MARKET VALUE it all boils down to what one willling buyer and on willing seller AGREE to .............. there are so few GTS cars each is UNIQUE . The "book values" are a wild a$$ guess at best . It is probably "worth " about 1/2 of what it sold for new !! Those 20,000 miles were very expensive ones ............. put another 80,000 miles on this car and is is probably worth 1/4 of new .

Nice car, 5 speed and all. It appears to be a very early '94 due to the fact it still has the older Cup 1 style wheels that were standard on the '93. A few early '94s appear to have the leftovers from the previous year.

Actually this year there have been more then a few low mileage GTSs change hands......some of both transmission types. Most of the time they will get scooped up quickly by people like Willhoit, Premier, and other
dealers that simply tack on $10K and put it on their web site. Most of the time they will sit for a very long period of time until some novice comes along and just has to have it......at any price, not knowing that they can be had for a lot less with a little diligence and quick action.

The worth I put on this example is around $45-$47k with most of the dealer graft taken off. I'm not paying $10k extra for a detail job.

It's worth whatever you want to pay for it. There aren't many around. I went through this when I bought my 94 5 sp last year. I paid slightly more than market value and I don't regret doing that for a second.
I would agree with MikeN about the $45-47K value. Remember, someboby will always think you paid to much. Don't worry about it.

I think this my have been owned by a guy in PA that was the original owner of the 1989 928 GT I once owned. He had traded the GT for a red/black 94 GTS 5M. Last I talked to him a few years ago the car had about 15k miles on it. Since there are so very few Red/Black 5M GTS's, I'm guessing this is the car. The guy had a large collection of Porsches and not just 911's.

This GTS is currently the 7th one built in 1994 and Mike is correct, only the early 1994 models have the 1993 C2 turbo style wheels. The first 9 MY 1994 GTS's all have the 93 style wheels.

As far as what its worth and at the risk of being redundant, its worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Jim is correct, throw the books out when it comes the selling prices of these cars and do not expect to use Bruce Anderson's yearly 928 Review in Excellence against a seller who knows what they have. Bruce is obviously completely out of touch when it comes to what a super nice versions of these cars sell for. Realistically, it will probably sell somewhere in the low $50k's. What its worth to any one individual is debateable as you may have noticed from this forum.

There are plenty of people out there willing to pay this kind of money for one of these cars. I have first hand experience having just bought a super nice red/black 93 GTS 5M and having people trying really hard to buy it out from under me.

Do these early '94's have fully functioning RDK installed or was it already deleted at end of model year '93?

That is a VERY good question and I must admit, I do not know. My guess would be yes since I doubt Porsche would make about 10 sets of wheels just for those early cars. Anyone know for sure? I sent Isringhausen an email. Will post answer if/when I get one.

Seth is lucky he already bought his GT - otherwise the poor guy would be drooling over this one (and possibliy end up shelling out twice as much as for his beautiful red/black GT)...

Got a response saying that the early 94's did in fact have the tire pressure monitoring system! Wow, learn something everyday!

As a side note, this IS the GTS I thought it was from the collector in PA.

Default what did Isringhausen pay for it?

Just for curoisty sake it would be intersting tos ee what Isringhausen paid for this car by checking with the prior owner. It might raise some eyebrows but also be very useful information for buyers novice and expereinced alike.

All depends on if the previous owner knew the worth of the car or not. I have seen very nice GTS's traded into the dealer for book value, which is
about $25k........yes there are some people who don't have a clue what their car is worth......sometimes they don't care.......

It wouldn't surprise me if Isringhausen got this car somewhere in the $30k range. Most of the time high-line dealers will not even mess with a 928 unless they know they will be rewarded in the end.........by $10-$20k.......

Knowing this previous owner, I doubt he was in tune with what the market on GTSs is right now.
