im having this very same issue with two Gemballas that I have (slantnose cab and an avalanche). Very little in the way of documentation, those who were in the know are either dead or did so much coke they don’t remember.
Again, this reminds all of us to learn as much as we can while some of these people are alive. Build your network and share the information wherever you can once it is confirmed.
The more we know, the more we can learn to ask about. Every bit of knowledge lost with the original creators of these cars passing is gone forever!
I put this together for a post on BAT but figured I'd put it here just for posterity
There’s a bunch of uncertainty RE: total production numbers of Weissach edition 928s. The general quote is 205 (which is the denominator on the certificate that came with the cars) but there are cars with a plaque number higher than 205. The Weissach edition was designated as option code M462 in the PET database, I only count 201 such cars, produced within a roughly 400-VIN span in the last quarter of the 1982 model year. 128 automatics and 73 5-speeds. Perhaps Porsche did indeed make 205 (or more), but only 201 were officially optioned as such.
The dash plaques were not stuck to the car and the certificate completed until delivery to the customer, so a Weissach missing the plaque may not have had it installed by the dealer. I’d wager that’s why there’s no correlation at all between the VIN sequence and the dash plaque number- the plaques randomly ended up in some delivery envelope with the certificate, keys, manuals, etc.
Here's the list of publicly available Weissach VINs (last 4) vs. plaque number- No correlation whatsoever between the sequence:
The plaque number also doesn't correlate with production number or the invoice date of the 201 cars.
Does anyone with a Weissach that has a plaque higher than 201 (or 205) also have the certificate where the number that got filled in is greater than 205?
I have #179 & #210. I have seen #219 complete with plaque - see OP

Roger, does the owner of #219 have the certificate? Do you have the last couple digits of the VIN? Clearly plaque #218 is on a real-deal M462 Weissach but its certificate says #198.
I don't have any real horse in the race of whether a particular car is a 'real' Weissach or not, I just find it funny that there are more plaques out there than certificates denoting 205 cars in a series (and there being only 201 M462 cars). It's certainly possible that there are other US market '82s that have the Weissach paint and interior codes that just didn't get the M462 option, I suppose I should go look for them...
He was the original PO so maybe he will chime in. As most Weissach owners lost the badge, certificate and luggage hard to tell.
Maybe apply the same logic to the 140 ROW Jubilee cars.
