Default SOLD: 1978 5 speed non sunroof

Selling my '78. Happy to answer any questions about it. Just accepted on BAT so I need to get it cleaned up but wanted to offer it here before then to save the trouble... Price is 15k. This is my craigslist ad which is complete with the exception of mentioning a fuel line leak between the pumps. (I describe this to any who seriously contact me) I recently moved to Winston Salem and dont have a good network here for repair so Im selling it as-is for now.

I have for sale a 1978 Porsche 928. 5 speed, silver on black, non sunroof.

Very original condition including original radio (which functions)and spares from new. Previous owner purchased it in 1986 and Ive owned it for 3 years. Lots of extra parts including a full 8 volume set of factory workshop manuals, original leather bra for the nose of the car, original contemporary car cover, and original headlights. Has replacement transmission but the original numbers matching transmission is included in sale. Recently replaced brakes, brake lines, brake fluid, intake rebuild (vacuum, ignition parts, rubber gaskets and boots etc.), both low and high pressure Porsche fuel pumps and filters, rear shocks, timing belt replacement along with Porsche water pump, tensioner, etc and of course ignition tune up. Continental tires are a year old. The tool set is mostly complete with only a wrench missing. Extra bulb and fuse holder, collapsible spare, pump, extra belts, and jack are all present. Owners manual and warranty booklet are present with some early maintenance dealer stamps.

Borla exhaust, front seat covers, a full repaint, and Euro spec H4 headlights are the only modification from oem. The repaint was by the previous owner and necessitated by the leather bra chafing the nose of the car over his 30 year ownership.

Being 41 years old, the car is in great shape but not perfect. The A/C does not cool. Synchros in currently installed transmission are worn but shift fine when warm, radio antenna is broken, driver side parking trim has a crack. Interior is worn but apart from the front seat covers, original (which is what drew me to the car originally). Quality of paint job is high but there is small amounts of overspray. Overall its an honest, mostly original car.

Over 8k in preventative maintenance performed with receipts. I have (but have not installed) upper a arms with ball joints, lower ball joints, eccentric bolts, and front shocks. There is no pressing need but I was having the suspension gone through anyways until I decided to sell.

The vin tells us that the car was very early, being built in May 1978 as the 574th US bound car. You'll notice in the engine pictures that the intake tubes are not installed. They are very rare these days to be in good shape so I removed them and have them safely in the garage.

Thanks for reading my ad "novel". I hope its clear that I am an enthusiast who has cared for the car with no intention of selling as soon as I am. I have owned a number of Porsches over the years including an '85 928. I bought this car because I wanted a very early example with the cleanest design lines of the production run without all of the spoilers and design elements of the later cars. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks.

Nice. Seems like a fair price for a complete running car.

How much corrosion underneath?
