New tires!
About 10K before I bought it, the PO installed Dunlop SP5000 on my 84S auto, and put std 225/50x16 on the front and 245/45x16 on the rear (on polished, but std, 16x7 rims). In three years, I've put another 10K miles on them. I liked the look of the wider rear tires, but was concerned with the safety of high speed sweepers in tires beyond the recommended width. Face it, high speed sweepers generate enough 'pucker factor' without the fear of a bead letting go!
Last month, a high-speed, lock'em up, Oh S**t! panic stop to avoid a spinning bozo resulted in flat spots and incurable vibrations...time for new tires!
Earlier this week, based on the TireRack comparison charts(http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/uhp.jsp) , I bought four new 225/50x16 Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP. Wow! What a difference!
I do miss the wider rear look of the old 245's, but just like with the ride height adjustments I made last year, improved driving experience is convincing me that 'factory spec' is the way these cars should be configured. YMMV

Nordschleife Master
I run 225/55ZR16 on the front and 245/50ZR16 on the back and it gives me a much more neutral handling, and with 225 on the back it is just too easy to bake the rear end so I have to watch the peddle off the line
