Mickey,
Cheer up !
I agree with Jim the Weissach was a cosmetic package. The limited numbers had a primary market in the U.S. - think about our national mindset, "Yeah dude, there's only 4 of them in the state... and I got the first one!"
There were some spiffy firsts.. the wheels, the chin spoiler, and rear body spoiler were standard items. In the end, though I simply dote on Pattycakes, she is JUST a dolled-up 82'. My original sHARk hunt was for -and still is - a 86.5 in ticket me RED.
If you are like me you probably have no regrets and NO WELL DESERVED TICKETS either.
If you are into Weissach's for market resale don't hold your breath.
Though these relatively inexpensive sharks may eventually, thru attrition,
rise more rapidly in REAL VALUE -cash- than other models/years.
Of course you might have to find a lost soul with limited cranial assets and a lot of cash. Hang out at Edsel, or, Marlin auctions and pick off a lame one - Hell, a fresh coat of wax, a glib tongue, and a live one on the hook...
Sky's the Limit.

Dennis,
My appreciation has no boundries -well, within reason -.
BC,
I saw that as well.
Could be another Weissach seller with a vested interest, no fault there...
Grumble, grumble...
Well there is that 1980, Blue -looks black- you know... the 12 cylinder that starts easily with a little ether
Hey! It's only $2600.00.
Poor thing, you could see it shivering in the cold Elgin, IL snow.
Must not be house trained as there is no snow underneath it.
Attrition seems to be going up these last two years.
We may have to put together a save the sHARKs Campaign, or have them listed with the United Way.

Hey...I'm not concerned at all about that..I just thought the comments were funny...one coming from a supplier...(or had the potential to be one as I've never purschased anything from them at this time) and the other coming from someone trying to sell a "supposedly" Weissach with an ad that has people on here scratching their heads over.I'd kinda like to hear Jim's opinion on that one......

Michael my comments were not intended to offend anyone but I have this problem about stating things as I see them . That is perhaps one of the reasons I sell very few 18 inch rims , few headers for 32 valve cars , few "chips" for 87 > , do not sell many Koni shocks , ................. I did not say your kid was ugly .....just that he was not more handsome than the others. I do not question , will my comments sell more parts I simply try to be clear about what I believe to be true . Add information and occasionally try to see the humor in what we are doing . My point is , IF I only made statements or comments which are self serving and solely to promote sales .......then what possible benefit would that be for anyone to READ THEM . Like " Oh a Weissach " that is easily worth twice what an regular 928 could possibly be worth . The subtle interplay of the two tone interior against the metallic exterior accented by the very rare platinum S wheels ....... Now can I have that parts order ?? Besides I can not even pronounce Weissach !.... You might try ordering from us it seems many people do .

Michael .."I'd kinda like to hear Jim's opinion on that one......" If it was a Weissach at one time with the modifications , seats interior , rear wing , painted front spoiler it has lost much of what ever was special . The $10,000 intial bid probably makes it a mute point anyway . Besides the really cool part was always the luggage !

Mike,
That wasn't a ding on you.
And in my opinion, while the Weissach isn't a GTS, Club Sport, or a Euro even with all 205 in one place they were a rarity. With attrition over the years even more so.
While some may argue they are underpowered 4.5L cars, there is no denying that they handle and brake as well as as roughly 30 percent of the total 928 production run. You know it and I know it... that should be enough.
For us, or anyone else for that matter, to compare them performance wise with the later models pushing 70 to 140 more HP, 4 spd auto's, and larger ABS brakes would be idiotic from either point of view. They have what they have and we have what we have . I appreciate the Weissach for what it is and the S4's, Gt's and GTS's for what they are.
With few exceptions most sHARKs are currently undervalued and for me that's a good thing.
My glib point was that I love my sHARk but I know I'll never get what I consider the monetary value I place on it , out of it.
For me seeing grown men and women standing still and just looking at Pattycakes in a parking lot with that 'I wish I had one look' on their faces is worth the $8600.00 I paid for her.
My sHaRk is going to be an estate car!
As for the seller... pretty lame.
Jim's comments were harsh but true. He wasn't what one would call politically corret, but politicians, as a rule, skirt the truth and shine you on.

While the "options" for the Weissach Edition aren't speed oriented, I have seen the one Big Dave posted about, and it's accompanying luggage, and met John and Pattycakes at the SITO event. It was obvious to me John really liked his car. Knew quite a bit about it, and, even with the problems he had then, enjoyed the event, along with the rest of us.

I like 'em. They are differently colored, and the interior is very good looking. Caught my eye, anyway....

Brett,
Thanks for the kind words.
Again thanks for the assist and rounding-up Jay Wellwood as the shARKANSAS creek water was fine but Jay's spare coolant helped keep the crawdaddy oders to a minimum. The surgery on the thermostat and gasket lasted over 13 months before I replaced them. When I showed up at the Third Coast Event I ran into John - the good looking White sHARk from Missouri- and his new wife. He thought I still had the spoiler tied up from The SITO Event. Same rope, different damage, she gets a new one shortly.
The Interior is going to be a pain as the seats were finely spider cracking when I got her and though I clean/treat/and cover I don't percieve this as a self healing problem. New carpet for the rear storage area is on hand. Ball joint and aluminum carrier replacement awaiting parts arrival. The never ending battle with the electricals go on like the energizer bunny.
As to parts, Over the last couple of years I would comment that I was spending no where near what most folks were quoting for annual average maintenance costs. I've sent out roughly, $700.00 over the last two weeks...ouch... but I'm still under the yearly average and significantly below a composite 3 year average. Too make a long story short, Zack needs a car and I'm thinking of picking up that "real Weissach" if the price is right and Dennis thinks it's worth the trip up to his neck of the woods. I need two wheels as Zack was permitted to pull the car around front where he promptly wore the letters off the tires and professionally "rashed" the wheels. If I get the 2nd Weissach guess where I'll get the wheels?
How's the wife? How's Rosie? I've only seen one other shark with paint the color of Rosie's, but I haven't checked the Registry to see if there were more out there.

Wow John, it lasted that long, and you didn't change it sooner!!!??!?!

After the post showing pics this week, of Bill and Jills's Cassis, I now know of 7 other Cassis sharks.

Deb's doing VERY well, she's at the point now, of going in for cancer check-ups every two years. Thank God, lets hope it stays that way!

I think I'm in your league, as my maintenance costs also haven't been with the "grade curve". Comin' up on the 3 year ownership mark, I still haven't hit the $3k maintenance mark, for the entire 3 year period!
That may change soon, as I wanna get the chromemoly steel crossbar from Devek, door window seals need to be replaced, I need to find out WHY Rosy has developed a wind noise from the passenger door area, Rosy has developed ANOTHER vacuum leak, there is now a noticeable rust hole in the driver's door sill, the driver's side rear glass has rust bubbles showing in the paint at the lower edge, ( don't worry, Rosy will stay Cassisrot, for as long as I have her ) I have GOT to order all the AC seals, "O"-rings, receiver/drier, and whatever else CaptEarl told me to get, and go ahead with the 134A changeover, and sooner or later, the engine mounts will have to be replaced ( already have those on hand, waiting for a "window of opportunity" ), the steering wheel's leather is shot, and will need to have another put on, I'm gonna break down and have a "professional" alignment/ride hight adjustment done, Jim told me to keep an eye and ear on my fuel pump, as it was making noise at the Frenzy event, ( but it has been since we bought Rosy ) the never-ending fight with the draining battery ( lasts 2-10 days sitting ), and now Rosy has developed a tranny leak.

But, I love this car! 69,591 miles on the clock when we bought her, now 95,172, and she sits all winter! (%$#@*&^# salt and brine spewing trucks! )

Are you comin' up for the OCIC meet in Wichita? I'll be there!
