Default WTF, is my GT a Hybrid??!!

I'm not used to seeing "made in Japan" on my Porsche.

Jim,

I got the same one in my car. I just had to buy a new one.
It appears that my Dodge Caravan has the same a/c compressor
and it costs about 20% of the "Porsche" version. I just had to
put on another pulley.

George, But this is aftermarket, correct? It's the first time I have seen something on either of my 928's that didn't have a Porsche # on it.

Jim,

I don't think so. The 90-91 were the only ones with this
a/c compressor. They changed in late in 89, and then
again for the GTS. Mine has both the Denso and Porsche
labels.

Here's a photo of my original compressor:

Great information! I'm waiting for the Big Three to pick this up and offer a low priced compressor replacement option with a such compressor and the right pulley...

How is the supercharger conversion coming along? Hope your "dream team" is making progress and the charger turns out to be really super, rather than mediocre... ;-)

PS: Gearbox of the Cayenne is also from Japan.

Nicole,

I hope to mount the S/C today. I still have a lot of other stuff to do (fans,
oil filter adapter, boost and a/f gauges, etc), so I don't know if I'll have the
car running today. I do want to thank Bill and Tom for they're help. It would
take me a lot longer with out them.

I think nearly all transmissions are now being built in Japan, not sure of that though.

Hmmm, seeing as new compressor is $176 from the dealer that would be a nice swap. Waht prevents you from replacing an earlier model with the later type ???

My 1981 has a Bosch AC compressor made in Japan. Japanese stuff is alright, not German, but alright. Chinese stuff, now that is scary for sure.

Looks like the 1991-1998 Dodge Caravan used a very similair compressor. The bolt pattent looks the same but the number is different. Rather than a Denso 10PA20C it's a Denso 10PA17C as Dozman says this is probably just a different tonnage......... can anyone confirm? Will this compressor do the job?

$119 is cheep! Again it appears to only fit 1989-1990 models

A caravan must have close to 3X the interior volume of a 928, and lots of glass area - if it can chill that, it should be able to handle a 928.
