Thank Garth, your suggestion to use the starter is brilliant. Hours from finishing my repair I found I had to remove the pulley bolt again, and I already returned the tools I'd borrowed. My solution was to place the torque wrench with the 27mm deep socket at 3 o'clock with an axle stand wedged very firmly underneath. One brief turn of the key and the car nose bumped 2 or 3 inches up in the air, no nasty sounds though. This is by far the least stressful way of removing or attempting to remove the bolt. Previously I had been standing on the torque wrench inside the engine bay using 5th gear flywheel lock, and it wasn't breaking free. I'd only just done the bolt up an fee hours before with the same 150 ftlb torque wrench. The starter motor method is much less stressful for me than the breaker bar scaffold tube method.

Hey UKKid,
When you publish your overhaul procedure, I think it fitting to illustrate the intro with a picture of you balanced (doing a plie') on the torque wrench - in the eng. bay.....

Glad it worked for you Paul. Were you not a bit aprehensive after spending so much time rebuilding. Could it have been easier to come off because you only torqued it up with the 150 lb/ft T.R?............Jim
