Searching for 928 S4 (1992) car manual in English
I am searching for the 928 S4 car manual in English, I recently bought a 928 S4 (1992) in Stuttgart and the manual explaining basic controls inside and outside the car is in German only; Does anyone know where I can get an English version?

Hmmm... There is no 1992 928 S4 - the 1992 model year was the GTS, which was not available in the US. But it is possible that an S4 sat in a dealer showroom and was not registered before 1992.
You need to find out what exactly you own. If it is indeed an S4, then you most likely have a 1991 model. The user manuals should be available from any Porsche dealer in your area. I think they are somewhat around US$25-30.
Where are you located?

Driver's manual is available from these sites

Please check your cars VIN numbers 10th digit. I would expect it to be M meaning it's '91 model, '92 would be N. GTS production started some months later than when new model year usually comes out and it would be possible at least in theory that '92 model year S4's exists but think that no one has ever seen one yet.

You're right Anders, normally model year changes around july during summer holiday season. This gives factory good opportunity to change production line for new model and/or product updates if needed. 1/3 or 2/5 of total model year production is actually made in previous calendar year. For example '87 model year S4's were actually made between about 08/86 and 08/87. In 928 production there were few exceptions to this rule.
I think first cars were made before official model year change during summer '77. To my understanding they have 8 as 3rd character in body stamping (17 char long VIN came few years later). This makes them '78 models even though 911 and 924 made on same day were still '77 production.
Club Sport production ended and GT production started in middle of model year '89 during winter '88/89.
Third fairly well known abnormality is around 150 US model GTS's made during spring/ summer '92. These were stamped P as model year '93 cars but were made well into previous N model year.
There might be fourth also. Has anyone ever seen GTS that was definitely made before october or november '91? Mine is number 410 and it was first registered in late march '92. Also know ex-German GTS that was first registered late june '92 and it's VIN is in low 700's. Counting backwards from these gives November as month of first '92 model year car. Too little data to make any solid asumptions I know but counting this way up to 07/92 would give about right figure for overall '92 model year production. Fact that I think I have never seen GTS for sale in Mobile.de where first registration month (EZ) was earlier that 11/91 also supports this. And I don't believe many GTS ad's have sliped by unnoticed during past four years. Only proof I have ever seen that GTS production started 08/91 is same 08/91 print date in GTS driver's manual and poster hung in Porsche Werk 1 stairway last summer. Poster had all period production models listed giving months when production started and ended. So where are all 08/91 - 11/91 GTS hiding?
