Default 928 Nemesis Becomes 928 Hero - Leather Craftsmanship

A few months ago during an historic rainstorm here in SoCal I had an offroad punt that caused quite a bit of damage to my GTS' suspension system. A flatbed to the 928 sensei Greg Brown at Precision Motorwerks got the road to recovery under way. Luckily, everything was covered by insurance, to a tune of almost $20K.

While the damage was being repaired I learned of a local leather craftsman who would transform my GTS back to pristine condition.

Many here probably know of Luis Artiga - AKA Lart. Lart has been known to be a 928 antagonist over the years. Myself, i always tended to cut him some slack, recognizing he's just a softy nutty buddy at heart.

Anyway, turns out Lart not only sells 944 parts he is also an exceptional leather craftsman.

With the repairs to my car almost complete, I coordinated with Greg Brown to remove the seats for Luis to pick them up and take them to his shop.

Luis agreed to my tight time schedule, and came through with flying colours!

\The first challenge was to make sure he could match the Classic Grey leather. He has access to all Porsche OEM leather and fabric, so that was taken care of in short order.

But first, a look at the tired original seats:

So we got the new leather matched:

Then Luis began his magic.

Here's a few pics:

Detail of leather covering the original black plastic corners:

Then, while at it, the new seats made the original armrest box look very tired!

So we did that as well, including black leather suede interior:

And here's the finished interior - just glorious!

I can't say enough good things about Luis and his work. His attention to detail is incredible, and his prices are a fraction of the typical 928 interior folks we know here.

If you are interested in learning more about Luis and his capabilities you can visit his FaceBook page at:

Or send him a PM through his rennlist account at:

Luis offers a very nice additional discount for Rennlist Members.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Oh, and by the way, my car handles like it is on rails now after GB did his stuff, basically refreshing the entire suspension system including new Boge Sport coilovers. Incredible!

Nicely phrased.

Bingo.

With Paul Champagne retired (apparently) and Rob Budd rumored to be retiring sometime in the near future, having another interior craftsman is incredibly helpful. Even if it is Lart.

Yes, I knew I forgot to mention something!

He can convert standard seats to Sport version, but it adds a week or so to the process. i didn't have that time option so opted to stick with the original configuration.

Everything was replaced, including the foam and underlayment. All new, Bob!

Great work!

I had some Sport Seats restored by xxx xxxx and he did not replace the foam as instructed. Now I need to get them straightened out as he no interest in making it right.

Can I buy the proper seat foam pieces from you so I can do them myself? I'd hate to have to ship them across the country.

Regards,

Dave

Speaking of Robert Budd, has anyone heard from him lately? I ordered a dash and glove box cover about 2 months ago and haven't heard anything since. Tried emailing him and haven't heard anything. Hopefully he didn't retire yet.

Edit: he's still working on it.

How about sharing who did the substandard work as a word to the wise?

You can send Luis a PM through the link to his rennlist profile included in the OP.

Nice job! Those seats are tricky and all the foam got seated correctly. Looks like Lart is a very skilled interior guy.

Randy, what is the color code for your interior? I've never seen that combo.
