Caravan to SITM from PEC ATLANTA
Anyone interested ? Comments etc.
.Idea is leave
Depart 05/31/19 from PEC Atlanta
Option 1 - 5hr route through Nantahala National Forrest
Leave 10:am stop for lunch along the route
Arrive at Banner Elk 4ish.
Option 2 - 7hr route via Deals Gap NC
Leave 9:am run Dragon's Tail and stop for lunch along route
Arrive at Banner Elk 6ish.
Maybe using option 2 some people coming from West of the Tail of Dragon could meet up and we could all run it together.
A caravan of 928's on the tail WOW what a sight

There’s a group of people are doing a north side run next Friday (5/17) in case anyone here is interested in that as well. My buddy is a driver instructor at PCNA and is organizing it. It’s not Porsche-only but he owns a Boxster GTS and I’ll be taking my 996. I suspect there will be some GT3’s and such too. Here are the details for anyone interested.
“The real driving will start near Dahlonega. We’ll meet at Danny’s (just south of Dahlonega) for breakfast at 0830, then start the trip in earnest after that. We’ll do the route, stopping as necessary for gas, food, and bathroom breaks. Those of us starting in Peachtree City will meet in the Publix/Chick-fil-A parking lot at 0615 to be on the road by 0630. If you live in between the south end and Dahlonega and want to meet up prior to Dany’s, e-mail me and we’ll figure it out. Breakfast at Danny’s and then the real tour starts at 0930.
The route:
Click the “View in Google Maps” link below on your computer (not phone) and it should come up with the correct route.
We’ll depart Danny’s at 0930 and drive norththrough Dahlonega and continue on Hwy 19 towards Helen.
129 towards Cleveland.
75A towards Helen.
348/Richard B Russell Scenic Hwy to Vogel State Park.
180 (southwest) to Sucches.
60 / 5 / 52 to Elijay.
515 south out of Elijay and a late lunch at Bigun’s BBQ.
Then best routing home.
I don’t like speeding tickets, so we’ll enjoy the mountain roads but won’t be doing anything reckless.
For those of us Peachtree City-dwellers, the to/from is 2 hours each way and the entire route is 7 hours/341 miles. So that means 3 hours of good mountain roads.”
Sorry for the thread hijack RS. Just wanted to put it out there in case you or anyone else is interested in attending.

That's not a highjack . Just can't figure out what it has to do with the thread or SITM. But I do appreciate the invitation for the drive. Hope everyone has a good time. The route looks like a good run.

I could be talked into Option 2, Deals Gap, Tail of Dragan, Fontana Dam Road... etc. I'd would have to overnight in Alcoa or preferably, Robbinsville Thursday.
Here is AO's route. I've driven this 3 or 4 times... Always a hoot.

I'm likely flying solo this year coming from Jacksonville. I may go up to Asheville on Thursday, spend the night and then drive the Blue Ridge from Ashville to Banner Elk. Otherwise, it might be fun to go to Atlanta on Thursday and ride with a group from there. I'll stay tuned to this thread!

no interest doesn't look like it will happen.
I'm personally heading in from out west, had a change of plans. I will still be attending SITM just starting from another direction.
Anyone going that direction PEC is a great starting point. I will be happy to put forward a attendee list to give the guard post at PEC .

I think I am going to drive from Jacksonville up to Greenville on Thursday and then drive up to the BRP around Asheville and follow into Banner Elk. I always drive home on Monday but looks like I'll be driving to Atlanta on Monday (at some point) for some work there on Tuesday/Wednesday.
I'll be rolling solo for the first SITM in 10 years, so I'll have plenty of time alone with my thoughts, whichever path I take.

Return trip to Atlanta
Looking at stopping over in Cherokee NC Sunday night.
Then playing around in the mountains before heading into Atlanta. Maybe you could run with us
