More often than not, folks have the crest of their hubcaps pointed properly at the valve stems. Kudos!
I pretty much went down the line in the hotel parking lot (not the main event) and shot each car. I probably avoided any obvious duplicates, but I don't think there were many.

I have a dim recollection that the WSM has an illustration, but it differs from tradition by 180 degrees. You're supposed to do something similar when mounting bicycle tires - it might save you precious seconds in a race.

Nice wheel montage I am responsible for at least 2 cars in that collection
I made an effort to show the young guy at our shop about aligning the center caps when we swap tires on a vehicle
he he could care less how the cap goes on or where would you fit the wheel lock?
Same response
It must be me being observant of the Lil details

One problem I have with the 'not paying attention to the details' is that I have found, long after the fact, that some of the 'little details' are important. I can't think of any examples of the top of my head, but I've had it go both ways. Ignoring a little detail and having it come back to bite me, and paying attention to a little detail, that seemed irrelevant at the time, only to find out later that it was important.

The thin part of the crest is offset by the weight of the valve stem. This allows for exact balancing of the wheels and tires.

and from the 92GTS owners manual:
Two Porsche sources, I call that definitive (if not downright pedantic)...

That's why you got third at Hershey. Check out 1B for proper crest alignment!
It seems however, that my random crest placement and the crest pointing to the valve stem were both wrong. Apparently, even the illuminati at Hershey are laboring under the misconception that the point of the shield goes toward the valve stem.

If you visit a Porsche Dealer, every car will have the pointy bit of the crest pointed at the valve stem.
So many things on the 928 are the opposite to tradition, perhaps they decided (according to the WSM) to flip on this, too. Maximum heresy. Should we go along with it?
