Default Another .... X Pipe Thread - no resonator question!

Hi all,

I am to complete my race car with an XPIPE (form motorsport SLC...). But I have on my own a special dual exhaust system, see picture below.

My guess is, is there any worry to use it with an X pipe? The actual pros with that dual system with standard exhaust system is the lightness.

And if I want to go very light, then, is there any worry to mount that dual exhaust with an X pipe and a RMB. Note that I don't car about noise, cause i will be under the dB limit on the traks I use to race on.

Thanks for your advice.

Cheers

Stephane

Providing the cat back system is stock size then the X pipe will fit with zero issues.
Get your X pipes here - same but cheaper 8>)

@Roger, I have already sent you a mail yesterday ;-)

Yes that dual system is OK with standard system so it will be good for the X pipe you provide.

My question is based on the thought that I would have some restriction on the exhaust line to assure a good flow within the exhaust as counter pressure help ventilation of gas from the cylinder.
If I make an exhaust line with X pipe + "direct" cat back system + RMB. Will it affect the efficiency of the engine, will i have all the efficiency of the x pipe, less, more?

To be honest I have never seen a system like yours sans the rear resonators. Most cars have the X + resonators (large or small) + rear muffler/RMB.
That would be a question for Dave Lomas or Louis OTT who instigated the X pipe design.

Is this with headers or stock manifolds?

One comment is that those cheater turns in the pipe will likely cause more of a pressure drop than, say, Borla straight thru mufflers. Replacing the cheater turns with mandrel bent tube bends will by my guess help with performance.

Stock.
And I know that Stephane will try to have the cheater turns replace with bent tubes.

With stock manifolds, I think that x-pipe works great. But I’d confirm with Louie Ott who has dynoed many versions.

Stock manifold,

As Sam said, I will replace cheater part with bent tubes.

Porken has also experimented a lot with stock manifolds and the X-pipe. If you search his threads, you’ll see that it works.

Hi,

I just received my X Pipe and i am a little bit disappointed.

I received Motorsport Inc X pipe from Roger and I find that the mounting on the intermediate exhaust is not in accordance with the origin. Indeed, the connection is made at the opposite of standard exhaust and I did not expect that.
However, I will do with it and maybe it will work very well with my intermediate exhaust.

But I have a question: should I use exhaust paste between the X pipe and the intermediate that would go on both sides of the glass ribbon supplied with it? Or the assembly is dry of paste? Thanks for your help

Hi Stephane - sorry you are disappointed - it would have been nice to hear it directly so we could have a chance to address the issue - can you explain in more detail what your concern is with pictures. I fitted a new X pipe this weekend and had no issues at all. The design has not changed in years.

Hello Roger,

There is no problem with the supply. The X pipe is OK but I did not understand how it fits on the car and I was surprised. So you are not involved and I renewed my confidence for your supply.

It is only the explanations provided on rennlist that do not show this part there nor I seen it. I thought it was like the origin and this is not the case. I want to believe as far as it works, but in absolute terms it would be better if the intermediate exhaust is bigger to connect around the xpipe and not inside.

My question remains, Should I mounted it with exhaust paste or without? If yes, How shoul I apply it?

Many thanks

Stephane

Hi Stephane - I do not use any exhaust paste. Just the small patches that go inside each clamp at the joint. Tighten the clamps REALLY tight and the material will form to the shape of the joint and restrict any leaks.
