Default exhaust system

Does anyone have an exhaust system that would fit a 1980 928? I was looking for a nice aftermarket system complete or parts off of one. Also a set of 85-86 manifolds to upgrade the ones I have now. Thanks.

He's selling a full "racing" exhaust... with headers and everything...

Sounds like it will fit an '80 with a little modification.

We carry the all stainless Borla system as well as the 85/86 manifolds.

I am debating on weather to put in an ANSA Muffler or a Borla muffler. What would be the better sounding one and is there any sound clips to hear what they sound like? Thanks

The Ansa Box with rear facing chrome tips in my opinion looks odd . The quality is such that we refuse to sell them and in fact have new center sections which came to us in a bulk parts clearance which we just can not feel good about selling ......... The Borla is far superior in our opinion and has a 10 year warranty ........

i've always associated ansa with being cheap (both in price and quality).

Is that an accurate association?

I bought Anza some years ago for my 924 and found the quality to be on the low end of the scale. I thought the coating did almost nothing to prevent corrosion, and that the silencer case rusted through far too quickly. In my case the fit was okay, but visibly sub-par; however I am guessing that on a 928 the exhaust dimensions are more important.

I think it's worth investing in a stainless system, and a system who's maker will back it up. It takes a decent effort to install an exhaust and they do cost a bit, even a cheap one. I think it's better to spend the $ and have a setup that will last as long as the vehicle, rather than spend a little over and over again.

Regards,
Abdul

Does anyone make a Y-pipe to fit the MSDS headers on a 16V 928 motor?

Thanks alot for all the replys! I guess I will be going with a borla exhaust. Does anyone have a sound clip as to what it sounds like? Is there a place I can go to hear the different sounds of different exhausts? I think it would be neat of some people on this forum record some sound clips of there cars for others to hear. I am sure with some of the setups that I have read about that there will be some awesome sounding cars! Thanks.

Tom Cloutier made one for me. (thepowerbroker.net) Here is a photo. It was part of a complete exhaust system for my '83 Euro S. Obviously, you have to weld on the header cones to the merge piece. Let me know if you have more questions.

Cheers

Default Custom exhaust for sale

Johnny,
I have a custom exhaust for sale. I works perfect for a 16V, esp. if you want to use the 85-86 manifolds (which I have available as well). It was designed by Tom Cloutier just as Joe F. The system is essentially new, and in dry storage. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks.

Here is a link to my 'parts FOR SALE' thread, which contains a link to the exhaust specs/pics/price

Joe F - Thanks for the info, I sent him a message to see what he'd be able to build for me.

I was just reading that the sound of your exhaust also depends on where you place the muffler in the system. Is it best to place it where the cats are, where the mid muffler is or where the rear muffler is? Thanks
