I can hear the road noise inside the car
Hi guys , i am finally getting my 928 s euro together and running .I took it for its first spin and i could hear the road noise through the centre console area. Im just wondering if there could be a grommet or boot dislodged or missing from the shifter area. Any thoughts please

Auto or manual? Year? All this helps. There is a foam insert on manuals to keep stuff out. Could be gone.
Another cure for road noise is to remove as many exhaust restrictions as the law allows where you are.

Yes sorry , meant to say Auto.1983 Doing some research looks like the foam might be missing or damaged . can this be accessed from the top without removal of the centre console?

If your motor and or transmission mounts are bad the torque tube will sit lower than intended and possibly allow the foam to drop down away from the body decreasing its seal and noise damping effect.

Motor mounts new . Not had it running long enough to know if heat coming up . But dropped a clip off the rear wiper switch and it fell to the ground outside so looks like I’m going to find no foam at all when I investigate . Happy days

Try jacking up the rear end so tires are clear of ground, run in gear to see if you still hear the noise. I had road noise inside my 82, it turned out to be bad torque tube bearings. Replaced them with Constantine Super Bearings and now all it quiet.
