Replacing passenger door seal, what's THIS wire?
86.5 928S, passenger door seal is toast, replacing. Should be simple, take off the door stay, disconnect the wire harness from the door, remove the 2 screws for the wire harness mount, and take the old seal off/put the new one on around the harnesses and door stay. Simple.
Except of course there is ANOTHER wire harness, a brown one that is going to the door. Pictures below, it appears to go straight down behind the DMEs into parts unknown.
What are you little brown packet of wires?
I'll probably take the entire door apart (AGAIN, I do not want to cut the seals) but is this on any Porsches from the 80's, or is it part of this stupid extra alarm option the DPO installed (and I should just rip the heck out.
Also on the alarm module it looks like one of the wires is broken at the plug. Any idea what that is?
What else am I going to find today?

Took door apart (again). Very neat wiring inside, the wire bundle goes up, through a clip, then through several metal clips to a molex disconnect by the locking mechanism. Looks to be the factory alarm wiring, three wires of which two are used.
Thought about difficulty of removing it, breaking the plastic wire clip, pulling it through the tunnel to get the seal around it, then just cut it at the door jamb and crimped on connectors. Seal is now replaced (man the old one was SHOT) and all is well.
Bad Porsche design.
