Default The Winter Stand-Down

Because it's too cold & wet to be laying on the ground, I've been doing "Indoor work' on the car...:
I cut up an R/C nose gear mount to get a Nylon piece to fix my rear latch

Sacrificial Nose Gear Mount. The cut off side I glued into the latch...Now I'm out a whole $1.98 for Nose Gear Mount

Nylon piece glued in place, I used a Dremel cut-off wheel to cut/melt a slot for it.

A side view of my fix...Nothing like a hard sharp edged piece of Nylon to hold the hatch closed...(File to fit)
Next I took on the POD...I pulled it to fix the instrument lights and the cracks in the pod cover. I used 'Great-Planes' 30 minute Epoxy mixed with Top-Flite Microballoons.( Very,Very,Very, Very Small hollow glass *****) The Microballoons make the epoxy kick off fast, like 7-> 10 minutes instead of 30, but makes it set up hard but flexible... I only did the pod because I want to see how it will hold up to summer weather...This combination holds up well to summer flying weather with R/C planes

Cracks like this in the pod

Some 'AFTER' pics, didn't take any 'Before' pics We ALL know that pod cracks look like LOL

A few coats of Krylon, "let's see how it looks" Paint

Now let's see how it holds up
Next comes the pod lights: Here I got 'Inventive" because I'm LAZY...(Only take apart what you have to)...The pod light prisms were broken loose, so I put some thin strip LED under the prism and R/C servo mount screws to reattach them...Want to go back to original? loosen the prisms and pull the LEDs out...Like I said LAZY

LED pod lights

I think the LED kit cost me $12 at autoZone, I only used half of the kit

I think I'll use the rest of the kit for the 'dome lights'

LEDs slide UNDER the stock prisms.
I was having sporadic NON-CRANKING STARTER problems for a while...SO because I'm LAZY and already had it apart, I got a new ignition switch from 928Intl.
{Something else to check off the "ServiceLifeExtensionProgram"} LOL.. I hope it solves my starter problem; I've been going thru the car 'nose to tail' ; New starter from 928Intl, new wiring harness from 928Classics. New BOSCH battery, still have sporadic "no crank" problems...I have an "83 Euro K-jet car with Manual trans.so there's no Neutral Switch...
I remember a thread on how to circuit check from the Ignition switch to the starter but I can't find it now...I'll jump the 14 pin to the hot post when I get home from work tomorrow...
There is a black 2 hole plug coming off the ignition harness branch, shown in pic #4,,I think it's for the speed control, which I don't have.. is it??

Humm if your doing all of this i might have some dash stuff for you.
I bought a dash cover kit from Rob Budd its made of Alcantera and the color i have is quite close to the color of your pod,
I also have a top to cover the pod .
So the dash the glove box and the top of the pod are included with this kit,
once the cracks are fixed you would glue this to the dash,
its really nice just not the correct color dark blue I needed for my car so its for sale.
With shipping i think i paid about 425.00
I will let it go for 375.00.
Let me know if your interested.
Stan
