Which route for more power?

On a related matter:
Erik:
In another conversation, I was informed that Erik was trying to reboot the MURF supercharger kit business, so this quote from today sounds like he is still proceeding down that path. Of course, he certainly is free to do so.
But I have asked the Moderators before that Erik, because of his investment in the MURF kit, should not be allowed to be a moderator on supercharger posts. He has a vested interest in the outcome, and clearly cannot be an unbiased moderator.
This thread itself is an excellent example of Erik trying to sway a purchase in his direction - he's got 5 to sell!
Let's have transparency. Have him admit he represents and is making MURF kits to be sold.
Have him purchase a SPONSORSHIP license, like the rest of us retailers who post here.
Have him follow the "no more than two product posts per month" rule like the rest of us retailers.
The playing field should be level. A moderator who has a vested interest in the outcome of a conversation has an unfair advantage. Here's why: when I talk about our supercharger kits, everyone knows I make them and I sell them, so I am obviously trying to influence the sale in my direction. As long as everybody knows this, they take what I say with a grain of salt. But, in Erik's case, without knowing Erik is actually trying to sell his supercharger kit, his advice appears to be innocent and objective about supercharger kits. It is not.

Fast forward to today, I'm working on making a Murf928 kit for my 87, and my goal was is to make enough parts for 5.
But I have asked the Moderators before that Erik, because of his investment in the MURF kit, should not be allowed to be a moderator on supercharger posts. He has a vested interest in the outcome, and clearly cannot be an unbiased moderator.

I have kits for the S3 in both Stage 1 and Stage 2 (intercooled) configurations. Just speaking for myself, do not know about the other manufacturers.
Here is our S3 Stage 2 kit installed:

Like the thread on Facebook where you claimed Tim Murphy broke your agreement by selling 16V kits and when I called you out on that lie you back peddled? I was trying to be nice by keeping things on a high level, but you just had to dig up old wounds.
You showed your full hand with your post on Facebook last year. It's fine, you and Tim never had a signed contract, it was a gentleman's agreement and you decided at some point to go your own way with your own kit. However you want to spin the wheel to make yourself sleep better at night, that's up to you.
You've been told this before, but I shouldn't be shocked you feel the need to climb on top of your soap box again. I actually do very littler moderation in this area anymore and have asked other mods to keep an eye on the 928 area. Bob R elevated me to "super mod" status so I could help out in areas of Rennlist that are much busier than the 928 area and were in desperate need of moderation.
Point is, I've never been impressed by your supercharger setup. I've helped a couple people with your 16V kit that were never satisfied with the results. Here's one example:
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ercharged.html
Here's the sad part, the "fix" suggested in that thread came from Reeves Callaway, who shared it with John Kuhn who then shared it with the forum many years ago. I talked to you about this information many, many times and it fell on deaf ears. Why? I dunno.....you always seem to know best I guess.
I also do not have 5 of anything to sell. The custom pieces unique to the Murf928 setup (bracket / pulley) I plan to make 5 of each. Many of the parts are "off the shelf" (like injectors) which I plan to point people in the direction of 928's R Us, 928 International, and 928 Specialists to fulfill. If someone wants to bring there car here for installation help, that could be an option too.

My 928 was a prototype for the Murf928 setup, long before any kit was on the market. This is nothing new, I've always been a part of Murf928 and spoke openly about. You've always known this, your grandstanding here is just for attention.
As to how you ended your agreement with Tim, he was the bigger person & just walked away, he knew there was nothing to gain by fighting it. You showed your true colors and that was that.
Fast forward to 2018 when someone in a public Facebook group was asking questions about various 928 Surcharging. You remember? It's still there in this FB group:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/288240721333278/
Here are the screen shots from that Facebook Thread. This is 100% open to the public, nothing private is being shared here:
That story about the 3rd "mystery" person is complete unadulterated bullsh*t. Tim never sold that person a kit for their 16V 928 and deep down, you know this is the truth.
It's possible they bought a used kit and tried to adapt it to their early car. Tim never sold anyone a kit specifically for a 16V car, and if they had asked they would have been told it wasn't designed for their model yar.
Tim has zero power to stop someone from buying something second hand, if that is in fact what happened. So far it's just a story you've used to justify what you did.
If this story is true, did you bother to pick up the phone and discuss this with Tim? Nope, you saw it as a way to go back on your agreement with him. Why not just admit it? Do you really think you're doing yourself any favors here?
I've got nothing to lose, I'm building a kit for my car and if a few more get supercharged along the way, awesome.
Bottom line Carl, I defended you for years, I thought we were friends. Tim didn't make a fuss bout it so neither did I. But you showed your true colors in that Facebook thread and I'm sorry, some things cannot go unaddressed. Tim never backed out on your agreement, you did, all on your own. I'm sure it's much more profitable to sell your own kit, so who would blame you?
But this BS story that Tim caused the break-up.....that's low. I'm still shocked you expect people to believe that.

I guess this one counts for 2016 & 2017?

Actually the criticism of that product goes back to 2012, and the quality of the welding, with a few comments about the logo:

Then in 2015 we were off and running with the logo comments straight away:

Nobody should just install any of these systems, without tuning the car to run correctly. My car is Shark tuned, not a big deal. I drove my car around Las Vegas, while Victor sat in the shotgun seat and programed the chips for the supercharger. Took less than an hour. There are quite a few S4's running the VCB setup. I love it. The problem I had with my car was totally unrelated to supercharging the car. The new $1000.00 internal fuel pump, seized, fried the fuel pump circuit in the just rebuilt LH.
Got rid of the internal pump, sent the LH, back to Lou Ott, he fixed it and the car runs like a scalded cat.

Luke @ Beyond Redline is a world class tuner, not many people like him in the world who still deals with us "regular people" at prices we can afford. Not saying he's cheap, but it's worth very penny.
Twin Turbo Todd would be the first to tell you, if not for Luke his car would probably not be running as good as it is today. He'd eventually get there, but working with someone like Luke is a game changer.
A true professional knows how to take a cookie cutter kit like the Murf928 supercharger system and tune it for a repeatable installation. If I didn't have Luke in my backyard I wouldn't even be thinking about going down this route with any of my cars.
Think about it, every car that drives off the assembly line, even the highest end Porsche's, have a "generic" tune in them. Yes they are very conservative which is why "chips" or a tune often adds a bit of horsepower.
It's like building a motor, anyone can bolt all the pieces together and call it done, but not everyone does it to the level of someone like Greg Brown. Tuning a car is even more intricate work that is best left to a professional.

Wow, recently started lurking around here again. Haven’t posted anything here in years. Stumble onto another SC pissing match.
I’ve had a Murf kit on my car since 2004. Started stage 2 with fmu to tune. Went to a stage 3 setup and spent a bunch of time learning. I haven’t talked to Tim in years, and Erik and I send Christmas cards back and forth. I had the pleasure of driving out to Wisconsin and staying with the Murphy family, hanging with the Green Bay crew, and tuning my car with Luke twice. Car still runs great.
500+ rwhp, driven from Long Island to Green Bay twice, trips up to lake George, driving in traffic and open road. So far still the original head gaskets on an 89 GT, and last I checked the compression numbers were within 5 psi highest to lowest across the board. Amazing what a good tune can do with a well sorted system.
At the end of the day, great setup for my street car. If you can get your hands on one, go for it. If $$$ is no object, just call Greg Brown.

Your GT is still one of the most stunning 928's I've ever seen.
We really need to get a gathering like that back on the books. You can all take turns getting the sh*t scared out of you going for rides in Todd's car.

I don't want to disparage anyone in the 928 community. It's small and needs all of us to keep the model supported. But I'm still running my Murf kit (#5) installed in 2004. It's had a few modification, many assisted by Tim, Todd, and Erik, also by Bill Ball, Jim Morton, Greg Brown, John Speake, Marc Thomas, Mark Anderson, Roger Tyson, Tom Cloutier and many others including Carl. It's still running strong. I did have to add additional intercooler radiators and different cold air intake to keep the temps down, but then that's running at 170+ mph for 90 miles with top speeds above 200 mph.
