Supposed to. Turn your key to position 1 and check.

Word to the wise:
Just 'cause the light works, doesn't mean it's accurate.
They're called "idiot lights" for a reason.
Early days...I had to limp mine into the gas station on the key when the gauge read ok, and no lights on......
All good now though.
